Job Summary

We are currently searching for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Rail Platform team in Los Angeles, CA or Annapolis, MD. The Senior Software Engineer will perform all phases of software engineering in a SCADA and Train control environment. It includes requirement analysis, design, development, code, unit test, system integration, and field installation.

Hybrid work option available.

Job Responsibilities

  •  Perform software design and development tasks
  •  Work with and extend existing components to implement requirements.
  •  Participate in Requirement analysis and Design / Code reviews.
  •  Assist with software testing and documentation.
  •  Handle documentation for procedures, training and enhancements.
  •  Participate on project teams to adapt AIM Platform rail control system

The ongoing goals for this position are as follows:

  •  Design new elements or changes in scope of project software.
  •  Maintain and enhance existing software baseline.
  •  Participate in code reviews and knowledge transfer.
  •  Interact with end customer, product owner and other stakeholders on technical issues.
  •  Meet schedule deadlines and remain within budget.
  •  Follow and enforce engineering guidelines set in software development methodology.
  •  Contribute to team coding standards and monitor the code base for compliance.
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders and customers and correctly interpret their needs and requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology,
  • Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience working in software development, testing, and control systems.
  • Solid knowledge and hands-on experience at an intermediate to senior level with the following software development languages: C/C++, Java; experience with JavaScript, JavaFX, Node.js, React and Swing; Tcl is a Plus
  • UI/UX design, tools (eg. Figma) and associated industry standards
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with SQL and DBMS such as MS SQL or Oracle database.
  • Familiar with both Agile and Waterfall SDLC
  • Experience with Requirements Analysis, Design, Development, Test, Implementation, and integration.
  • Experience with Jira, Bitbucket, Git, Confluence
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work independently as a self-starter and within a team.

  • A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Experience with cyber security, pen testing and system hardening
  • Experience with Enterprise Authentication.
  • Experience with multi-threaded programming and practices.
  • Positive attitude and eager to learn and improve.
  • Cloud Based design and development and familiarization with Docker, containerization and K8 in AWS, Azure or other cloud environments
