Role Summary/Purpose

Wabtec is looking for a Sr Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join it’s dynamic and fast paced Advanced Technologies (AT) organization. In this role you will be responsible for leading and executing early-stage development of Wabtec’s first autonomous rail vehicle (ARV) product. You will manage engineering and vehicle development efforts for an ARV prototype and supporting technologies. The Sr TPM will drive this effort by working closely with individuals in the AT organization and with teams across the business as well as through effective communication with teams throughout the organization. Wabtec’s journey into ARV development opens exciting new opportunities to bring together best in class technologies across the Wabtec portfolio as well as new advanced technology development and external partnerships.    

Essential Responsibilities

In addition, you will:

  • Help set and execute the program vision for early-stage ARV product development and key demonstration deliverable of an operational vehicle.    
  • Manage vehicle mechanical and electrical design requirements and layout for prototype and key demonstration initiatives.
  • Manage and support manufacturing efforts for prototype vehicle in collaboration with our internal testing and prototype development teams (b60).
  • Manage autonomous vehicle software development efforts, and coordinate software development activities across engineering teams with support from Sr SW Engineering personnel.
  • Facilitate collaboration across organizations and functions, including meetings and capturing and tracking action items to drive program forward.
  • Drive and help optimize day-to-day operational aspects of the ARV program
  • Regularly communicate program status and key issues to management and key stakeholders
  • Lead sub team on developing plans to meet schedule and quality requirements.
  • Be heavily involved in external collaboration efforts with startups, incubators, and universities as needed to full-fill necessary technical gaps in the perception and situational awareness space.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • BS or MS or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline from an accredited university or college, or relevant and significant industry experience.
  • 8+ years of technical project/program management experience on complex programs
  • Experiencing in having developed and launched new rail vehicle systems and SW technologies
  • Self-starter with strong skills in multi-tasking, influencing, and project execution.
  • Demonstrated commitment for process improvement and critical thinking.
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically to build consensus and drive program forward
  • Desire to want to learn new things and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong written, communication and presentation skills.
