Position Title: Storeman/Driver

Number of Positions: 1 Position

Reporting To: Warehouse Supervisor

Reporting Relationship: Senior Supply Chain Manager

Primary Purpose of Role: This person is responsible for the verification and record keeping of incoming and outgoing shipments and preparation of items for shipment, together with the occasional task of driving. Compares, identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. He/she will communicate with suppliers and forwarders on a regular basis to track and trace goods.

Primary Objectives:

  • Receives product deliveries, ensuring order and invoice accuracy
  • Moves shipments into appropriate locations for stocking and maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the goods receiving and despatching areas.
  • Establish and maintain a goods receiving, despatching area and maintains stock areas.
  • Manage garbage and recycling dumpsters for pick-up on appropriate days
  • Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Ensure shipping labels are fixed on packed cartons/crates identifying shipping information.
  • Ensure packing of goods is done according to company standards
  • Ensure incoming shipments are unpacked and inspected, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Routes items to relevant departments.
  • Inspects outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet company and forwarders’ specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operates forklift or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Operates the company vehicle to make deliveries or collections based on operational needs.

Formal Education/Training

  • High School: Grade 12
  • Code 08 Driving License (PDP would be an advantage)
  • Exposure to the Railway Rolling stock will be an advantage: 5 to 10 years warehouse experience.
  • Oracle working experience.

Essential work skills

  • Excellent written and oral Communication Skills
  • Good technical ability
  • PC Literacy
  • Exposure to commercial matters desirable
  • Customer Service orientated
  • Good MS Office Skills
