To strengthen our department System Integration & Test, we are looking for a

System Integration and Test Engineer (f/m/d).

It may sound too good to be true: Do you like to find problems and bugs that others must solve? You know how to use a screwdriver, but you feel just as comfortable with a Linux shell? Highly complex systems don't scare you, but awaken the explorer in you? Then you could be exactly the person we are looking for. With us, you can integrate individual components into complex systems and slip into the role of a hacker to check our systems for errors and weaknesses. Practically all technical aids, scripts and tools are allowed. Formally, these are mostly software bugs, which our software developers have to solve and fix. Your task is to proactively drive the system integration and to document your analyses systematically and in detail so that our developers can efficiently fix the errors found.

Tasks

  • As a System Integrator & Test Engineer you act in a dual role and support our projects (duration approx. 2-3 years) in close cooperation with the development department. You will be part of a professional team for the long term, and your collaboration with our system engineers and developers will contribute significantly to the success of the projects.
  • With your analytical skills, creativity, and competence, you will contribute to getting as close as possible to the ideal of a perfectly functioning overall solution.
  • Integration of individual software modules and devices into the overall system.
  • Preparing your test system, in coordination with the software developers involved in the project, for comprehensive release tests.
  • Development of test concepts/specifications, test automation, planning of test facilities and execution of extensive system tests of our software.
  • Error analysis, diagnostics, and commissioning with the customer, remote and on site
  • Customer training for maintenance and commissioning
  • Test drives with and/or at the customer's site are a highlight. Business trips of this kind (mainly in Europe) vary depending on the project phase. An assignment usually lasts 2-7 days.

Profile

  • Ideally an engineer specialized in electrical engineering or computer science, but also career changers from other technical fields with IT experience are welcome. What counts are your analytical skills, comprehension, and technical expertise.
  • You can think on development and system level to integrate distributed embedded systems with IP communication.
  • You have a high level of social competence to work with customers and collaboratively in a team. Nevertheless, you can act proactively, independently, and autonomously.
  • Ideally, you have already implemented software tests on embedded systems and have experience in test automation.
  • Ideally, you have already proven your talent in planning and executing complex test tasks.
  • Linux and networking (DHCP, DNS, VLAN, routing) knowledge is essential
  • Knowledge in the areas of virtualization (Docker/Vagrant/VirtualBox), scripting (Python, Shell), IT security, cryptography and troubleshooting are advantageous.
  • English and German spoken and written at C1 level are required (e.g. for direct customer contact and preparation of technical documents). Knowledge of French is an advantage.
  • You are looking for a long-term professional perspective with diverse development opportunities.

Successful candidates will be employed under local employment requirements and must already meet local employment/work permit and residency requirements. Please note that we do not accept applications from agencies without a formal agreement with Wabtec Talent Acquisition. If you are an agency or third-party vendor and have not been retained by Wabtec for this search, we will not owe you a fee if you submit a candidate into the applicant tracking system who is ultimately hired.
