Business Overview:

Bach-Simpson is the lead Event Recorder OEM in the North American Transit market. It designs, develops, and maintains an array of electronic equipment for trains.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Product Manager, Monitoring, this position is responsible for design, commissioning and technical support of Transit and Locomotive electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems of varying size and complexity, under the direction of more senior team members.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform all aspects of technical work

  • Embedded C Programming 

  • Read and interpret PCB, electrical and mechanical schematics/drawings

  • Design and verify PCB, hardware fixture, test jigs

  • Create accurate BOMs, Test Instructions, Assembly Instructions, and Wiring Instructions

  • Create detailed design documentation and estimate time to complete tasks

  • Review drawings, BOMs, Test Instructions, Customer Specifications, test specifications, procedures and Wiring Instructions for accuracy

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge in electronic systems design, electrical systems design and programming

  • Understanding of diodes, transistors, IC (VLSI, PAL, CPLD, FPGA, etc.), opt-electric devices, display technologies, discharge devices and power sources

  • Programming experience with C

  • Proficient with Altium

  • Able to read, understand and apply procedures

  • Good understanding of written/spoken English

  • Attention to detail

  • Experience with PCB design and troubleshooting

  • Must be able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required

  • Must be willing to travel to customer site as required (10% or less)

  • Able to travel to US for business trips
