Business Overview:

As part of the Wabtec Freight Services Division, Wabtec provides on-site material and technical support to Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) at various locations across Canada and the United States. On-site technical support includes troubleshooting all subsystems on Wabtec high horsepower Evolution and AC4400 locomotives. In addition, on-site employees count, ship, and receive material to support locomotive repairs.

Job Overview:

As the Intern you will be joining a fast-paced, energetic, creative environment as part of the Wabtec team in Port Coquitlam, BC. In this role, you will have an opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals within the field of technical advice and material support on Wabtec Locomotives at a customer site. You will gain exposure supporting the transportation team and assist the greater organization in achieving its annual goals and objectives as an active participant.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);
 

  • Tracking and communicating key customer focused metrics to the leadership team
  • Assisting to gather data with the shop manager in place
  • Assisting the Technical Advisor in various tasks (downloading, troubleshooting locomotives)
  • Hands on work in the customer shop to retrieve information on failed components
  • Assisting with material shipping and receiving, cycle counts, break and build
  • Working on projects that can improve workflow and processes
  • Safety Champion, ensuring you are following all safety guidelines and PPE requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • University Bachelor or master’s degree in course of completion in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical) or equivalent related discipline.
  • Open to both current students who will be returning to their in-class studies upon the completion of the work term and recent graduates who have completed their studies within the past 2 years

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required.
  • Must be willing to travel to customer site as required 5% or less.

Responsabilités essentielles :

Dans ce rôle, vos responsabilités comprendront (mais ne sont pas limitées à);
 

  • Suivi et communication des mesures clés axées sur le client à l'équipe de direction
  • Aider à collecter des données avec le responsable de magasin en place
  • Assister le conseiller technique dans diverses tâches (téléchargement, dépannage des locomotives)
  • Travail pratique dans le magasin mécanique du client pour récupérer des informations sur les composants défaillants
  • Aider à l'expédition et à la réception du matériel, au comptage des cycles, à la rupture et construction
  • Travailler sur des projets qui peuvent améliorer le flux de travail et les processus
  • Champion de la sécurité, s'assurant que vous respectez toutes les consignes de sécurité et les exigences en matière d'EPI

Qualifications de base :

  • Baccalauréat universitaire ou maîtrise en cours de fin d'études en génie (électrique, industriel, manufacturier, mécanique) ou dans une discipline connexe équivalente
  • Ouvert aux étudiants actuels qui reprendront leurs études en classe à la fin du stage et aux récents diplômés qui ont terminé leurs études au cours des 2 dernières années

       • Une autorisation légale de travailler au Canada est requise.

       • Doit être disposé à se rendre sur le site du client au besoin 5 % ou moins.
