The Associate Merchandising Development Program (AMDP) is a rotational program designed to nurture undergraduate talent that align with our mission and values, seek to make an impact, and are looking to launch their careers with the Walmart Merchandising Organization. During these rotations you will develop the skills and competencies required to succeed as a merchandising leader at Walmart.
Below is a brief description of the rotations you can expect to experience during AMDP:
Store Ops: You will build customer relationships, develop modulars, and spend time in store learning how merchandising comes to life. You’ll learn the omni-channel strategy that makes Walmart a top online retailer.
Ecommerce: You will support and develop mobile-browsing, online marketplaces, social media, and wherever your users browse online through retargeting ads.
Planning/Business Analytics: You will be introduced to the fundamentals of planning and business analytics, financial metrics, and how those metrics are calculated. Mastering the various tools and resources, you will be able to vocalize how forecasting, category analysis, line reviews, and 30/60/90 meetings create a foundation for successful products.
Replenishment: You will learn how to optimize supply chain to ensure the right amount of product is always available to our customers at the right time. You will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of supply chain, assortment, forecasting, inventory management, importing, and exit strategies.
Private Brands: You will learn about the different types of private brands Walmart supports, why we have them, why they are important, and how we manage them to succeed in the marketplace. You will be exposed to the backend processes of developing, pricing, negotiating, positioning, and launching a product.
Buying Capstone: Receive a crash course on what it means to be a merchant and demonstrate the knowledge and skillset you’ve cumulated in a final project.
