What you'll do...

[email protected] application is used by millions of associates worldwide to perform critical job functions from scheduling, clocking, metric reporting, voice and text communication, receiving, to inventory, to merchandise movement.

We utilize cutting-edge technology such as the cameras and sensors built into mobile phones, augmented reality, and along with latest on tech stack like React Native, GraphQL and native integrations that enable associates to perform their job duties efficiently and effectively, to better serve Walmart customers and generate positive business outcomes.

As Director of Application Development, you will be responsible for managing multiple teams building consumer-grade mobile applications that can run on commodity hardware running Android and iOS.

You will lead and inspire your teams while effectively prioritizing work and maintaining a strong customer focus to create business value while putting processes in-place to ensure successful outcomes.

You will find ways to deliver incremental value while solving tactical problems strategically.

Candidates must demonstrate a combination of strong technical, people, and operational skills and a platform mindset and have a track record of using data to drive continual improvement.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' experience managing engineering teams.
• Minimum 2 years managing geographically distributed teams.
  • Experience managing large teams and/or initiatives strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in large Fortune 500 environments is a significant plus.
• Proven experience successfully delivering multiple, concurrent, large-scale high-impact initiatives.
• Expert level technical skills in mobile application development on at least one mobile OS.
  • Prefer both Android and iOS.
  • Experience with React Native a major plus.
  • Experience developing large-scale, high-usage and/or mission-critical consumer-grade mobile applications and services
• Ability to partner effectively and build consensus with multiple stakeholders, including Business, Product, UX, and other Engineering teams.
• Proven experience in driving application quality, stability, and performance
• Solid understanding of User Interface and User Experience
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
• Must have experience measuring actual performance/user experience of your applications Analytics and Real User Metrics
• Data-driven: must be able to quantify opportunities and measure the quality, performance, and business impact of our solutions solution and use the data to inform prioritization and operations

Education:

• BS in Computer Science or related field (MS preferred) or equivalent work experience
