Director Cattle Management & Procurement
What you'll do at
Oversees the contract administration program by creating, negotiating, and approving service and capital contracts for the division; monitoring system performance; working with existing and new vendors and suppliers, internal business partners, and Legal to coordinate the review and approval of exceptions to contract language; making contract decisions for the department; working with business unit leaders to ensure the program meets their needs from a process standpoint; identifying and eliminating bottlenecks and problem areas; working cross-functionally to develop process enhancements; leading teams to incorporate solutions; representing the department on initiatives related to contract administration; and ensuring cross-company programs are tailored to meet the needs of the division. Leads and directs budgeting and reporting by managing collection of data and development of capital budgets; working with other departments to develop and communicate budgeting strategy with leadership teams; developing reporting capabilities; and communicating reports to other departments. Leads the implementation of sourcing methodology used for sourcing categories and risk mitigation strategies by creating responsible, transparent, product-focused supply chain models; leveraging global purchase volumes to drive manufacturing efficiencies and reduce costs; fostering a responsive, accurate, and efficient operating mindset; enhancing, and offering alternative, corrective solutions for operational processes and compliance; and leading continuous process and quality improvement. Oversees suppliers by ensuring supplier performance, on-time delivery, and productivity; mitigating risk; creating key strategic and sustainable partnerships; communicating inventory demand to maximize manufacturing efficiencies; and providing strategic and technical recommendations through analysis for the total cost. Manage the sourcing for new cattle life cycle providers for the Walmart beef program by: managing relationships with breed stock providers, producers, and feedlots; developing and maintaining animal specification for vertical program (for example, genetic breed lines, feed programs, supplementation, harvest size and quality performance); developing and managing buying grids for programs managed by suppliers (for example, animal management practices, breed specification) manage sourcing partners costs for program including calf cost, cost of gain, compliance costs, and other inputs Ensures inventory availability to meet business needs by: managing feedlots and breed stock; collaborating with corporate teams regarding cattle volume measurements; supporting negotiations and contractual agreements with breed stock and feedlots; monitoring established cattle procurement policies (for example, off-truck shrink, harvest plant schedule) ensuring accurate records (for example, cattle position report); and developing and maintaining a working knowledge of cattle industry requirements. Developing long-term strategies for roll-out of new providers, geographic locations, and sourcing strategies by: monitoring vertical suppliers and proposing recommendations for expansion of the Walmart beef program; developing and implementing risk management strategies Minimum Qualifications...Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position.
