Our mission in Category Marketing is to be an expert in customer, category, business and competitor insights, creating a joint category strategy with Merchandising that supports the Marketing & Enterprise strategy.
About the Job
As the Director of Category Marketing - Hardlines, you will lead the marketing strategy, planning and execution for the omni Hardlines business to ultimately help our customers “Save Money. Live Better.” Leading the Hardlines category marketing team, you will be responsible for pertinent campaigns and marketing activations, including brand launches, and integration in cross-category programming. You will partner with merchant, editorial and channel leads to identify and drive business priorities, and partner with both the Hardlines team and marketing leadership to allocate and optimize marketing budgets. We are looking for a highly analytical, creative, and strategic marketer who has a proven track record in driving sales through innovative customer centric solutions.
Manage marketing team dedicated to Hardlines initiatives and indirectly manage supporting functional partners
Drive priority development and seasonal Hardlines marketing calendar, and ensure marketing activations support business priorities
Lead brand launches and campaigns to support strategic national and private brands
Identify areas of opportunity to acquire new customers and drive perception change for the category
Develop programs to increase repeat and retention rates for existing shoppers. Partner with CRM team to develop lifecycle marketing programs.
Partner with creative to drive a consistent and elevated look and feel across all channels and develop breakthrough creative assets
Partner with seasonal and cross category teams to ensure successful representation and integration of stories and priorities. Act as ambassador for Hardlines marketing across seasonal teams
You are a seasoned marketer, savvy in both brand strategy and digital marketing. You have deep knowledge of and passion for retail, e-commerce and the Hardlines category. You are customer obsessed. You enjoy working collaboratively to create a vision and rally teams around it. You have a deep understanding of various marketing levers and how to use them to drive customer lifetime value. You are never satisfied with the status quo and are constantly looking to learn, grow, and innovate. You’re a flexible team player. You have great business sense and know when to trust your instincts.
8-10 years in digital and strategic marketing
Knowledge of marketing disciplines: acquisition, retention, brand, media, creative, content, product marketing and partnerships.
Proven leadership and people development skills, as well as experience working and influencing cross functionally.
Proven ability to work with data to understand and analyze performance, optimize plans, make quick decisions and measure impact to the business.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a high attention to detail.
Sharp creative eye, experience testing and learning messaging and creative.
Risk-taker, comfortable in fast-paced environment; go-getter, capable of managing multiple projects, priorities.
Knowledge of and interest in ecommerce customer behavior, retail, and Hardlines in particular.
BA/BS degree with strong academic record. MBA preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field and 5 years' experience in marketing or related field OR 7 years' experience in marketing or related field.
2 years' supervisory experience or experience leading cross-functional projects.
Marketing Experience in a Consumer Packaged Goods or Retail Environment
