What you'll do...

Every Day Low Prices (EDLP) is the cornerstone of our business and our focus on prices has never been stronger. We are looking for an entrepreneurial problem solver who enjoys sourcing and executing solutions. Be a part of an innovative team that is developing pricing strategies, building industry analytics and implement their recommendations at a scale that only Walmart can.

What you’ll do:

  • Protects and grows Walmart's loyal customer base through sustainable Retail Price Leadership across assigned Strategic Business Units by developing and executing Every Day Low Price (EDLP) Strategy to incorporate the Save Money, Live Better standard; developing multi-tiered retail price points and store groups affording Walmart price leadership and margin enhancement; delivering against Department Sales Goals and Profit Goals; and leading a customer first centric approach.

  • Directs the development of effective pricing strategies for the department by providing guidance on interactions with different areas of the company (for example, marketing, merchandising); evaluating and maintaining pricing gaps by competitor and department; developing strategies to enhance and maintain profit margins based on competitor actions; identifying strategic price modifications based on competitive data; evaluating the impact of inflation and deflation on items; providing guidance and information on Trade Form 100s; obtaining justification for increase/decrease of cost components; and reviewing joint business plans.

  • Ensures performance of current pricing strategies by reviewing current information on sales, profits, margins, in-stock, mark-up, and mark-down; navigating information systems (for example, Merchandise Value Planner (MVP), Retail Link); maintaining up-to-date statistics against defined performance metrics for the SBU; and reviewing effectiveness of strategies developed by supervised pricing personnel.

  • Supports development of pricing strategies by determining category or department relevance, goals, and role to the company; determining pricing differences between Walmart and competition; conducting Retail Price Surveys; reviewing third-party Retail Price Survey information; and meeting with Portfolio Team and Strategic Business Unit (SBU) leaders to discuss current competitive landscape, future cost changes, promotions, new items, and modular updates.

  • Develops Pricing personnel by providing training on pricing strategy processes and tools; and preparing and teaching boot camp; reviewing and providing feedback on pricing strategies; assisting in preparation of analytics; and training pricing personnel on conducting retail price surveys.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field and 5 years experience in merchandising, retail pricing, sourcing, operations management, finance, marketing, or related field
  • OR 7 years experience in merchandising, retail pricing, sourcing, operations management, finance, marketing, or related field.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in the fields of in business, economics, finance, or related field

  • Multiple years’ experience in retail, consulting, pricing, sourcing, operations management, finance, ecommerce, statistics, startup, or related field

  • Understanding of SQL, Python, R, or Alteryx languages

  • Excellent problem-solving skills including the ability to structure a problem, disaggregate issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions
