Be part of the team that shapes the retail audio experience for Walmart Inc. The Disc Jockey and On-Air Personality, Walmart Radio and Sam’s Club Radio will be part of a team responsible for live programming, music, entertainment and produced messaging for our facilities and on social media. This role will be responsible for upholding the company’s brand through audio, live appearances, web and social media. The DJ position will be responsible for creating uplifting and entertaining content, producing and hosting radio broadcasts while leveraging internal and external information resources, show production and scheduling. The DJ will work collaboratively and proactively with small and large teams, participate in opportunity assessments, new audio design and development.

All applicants should provide a portfolio including a link to an audio and/or video demo not to exceed 2 minutes in length that includes your voice during a LIVE on-air shift (no voice tracking), and a 30-second commercial production sample.

You’ll sweep us off our feet if:

  • You love to hustle, multi-task and have a willingness to move accurately with speed, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field or hold equivalent industry experience (more than 5 years) including experience with live broadcasts and the judgment required to think on your feet
  • You have 5 or more years of related on-air talent or live broadcast experience
  • You have high digital/technical acumen including a demonstrated mastery in audio production systems (Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, or equivalent software) and a solid technical background with radio studio and audio hardware brands like: Axia, Telos, JBL, EV, Yamaha, ComRex, etc. (Bonus points for video editing and technical video hardware knowledge supporting livestreams)
  • You have competency in the use of broadcast automation systems (Enco DAD radio automation or similar automation systems)
  • You have a strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn) and creating digital campaigns for radio
  • You are willing to travel occasionally and vary your work schedule as needed

What you'll do...

  • As part of the Global Communications team, you will work proactively to identify and create authentic ways Walmart and Sam’s Club Radio can help tell our story to the customers, members and associates in our U.S. facilities. This role will also receive media training due to the nature of the public-facing role.
  • Provides technical support by researching and implementing technical updates and advancements to automate and manage radio systems and resources; installing hardware and software for departmental systems; identifying and resolving broadcasting issues; and collaborating with other business areas (for example, Global Tech) to resolve problems with in-store, in-club or field radio systems and broadcasts.
  • Develops the Walmart and Sam’s Club Radio programming by designing corporate and commercial radio campaigns; writing scripts; recording and editing company messages; conducting voice-tracking and voice-overs for radio messages and broadcasts; developing associate and customer/member broadcasts and internet podcasts; help to create music formats based on customer/member demographics, music trends, and analyses (for example, associate surveys, sales); uploading, encoding, and editing music for broadcasts and playlists; collaborating with internal and external creative teams to develop relevant and on-brand marketing program elements; and identifying opportunities to improve Walmart Radio and Sam’s Club Radio and recommending improvements to senior leadership.
  • Produces and hosts a radio broadcast by leveraging internal and external informational resources (for example, company leadership, studio guests); studying background information to prepare for programs or interviews; interacting with the audience through phone-ins, emails, texts, social media, and in-person; uploading and editing voicemail messages for broadcasts; evaluating, selecting, and programming music playlists; operating broadcast equipment appropriately; scheduling, recording, and editing company information segments (for example, store/club recognitions, benefits, operational updates); developing and following project and broadcast timelines and processes; and reviewing final production and ensuring it is aligned with program initiatives, strategies, and objectives.
  • Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer/member and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.
