Distinguished Technical Architect
In this role you will report to the SVP of Walmart U.S. Technology and join a diverse team of technologists who are devoted to meeting the evolving needs of our millions of customers and associates. As a segment of Walmart Global Tech, Walmart U.S. Tech powers omnichannel shopping journeys with advanced search and personalization capabilities, as well as in-store front end transformation and in-store services.
You will be expected to:
Evangelize our architectural blueprints by
leading the creation and evolution of an integrated architecture program based on business and customer needs
demonstrating the business value of architecture as an enabler for business strategy implementation and technology innovation
measuring and monitoring milestones for reliability, efficiency, security, operational excellence, and cost optimization
Improve our technology environment by
researching and analyzing industry trends and best practices
benchmarking industry against internal processes and solutions
defining software development guidelines, standards, and processes
sponsoring, developing, and influencing continuous improvement initiatives and experiments with innovative technologies
evaluating and negotiating with external vendors and services
Oversee large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by
translating strategies and requirements into technical solutions
directing and reviewing architectural artifacts (for example, proofs of concept, prototypes, architectural designs)
communicating status and issues to engineering and product leaders as well as other stakeholders
providing technical and thought leadership to the development teams
We hope you have:
extensive experience in the design, development, and delivery of software products with a massive customer base
strong track record in an architect role with large-scale software development projects
a clear vision for architecture design and great communication skills to articulate that to all levels of stakeholders
excellent decision-making skills with the ability to balance conflicting interests in a complex and fast-paced environment
thorough understanding of distributed technologies, public cloud technologies, and data structures and algorithms
experience working with geographically distributed teams
business acumen; combining technical vision with business insights
advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
