What you'll do...
We are looking for Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. This will be a temporary assignment that will last up to one year. We are looking for someone with Data Analytics experience along with proficient Excel skills. Experience with Tableau, Alteryx or Power BI would be ideal.
Implements the department's strategic vision of sustainable, cost-effective, comprehensive, multi-program, transformational environmental, safety, health, and transportation risk mitigation strategies by managing projects regarding the strategic development of cross-functional, multi-program efforts (for example, chemical assessment reviews, exterior spill management compliance); communicating the need for cost-effective strategies, programs and sustainable services that mitigate risk across the enterprise to management team; consulting with leadership team on department's strategic direction in the implementation of these strategies, programs, data systems, and services; monitoring and ensuring accuracy of compliance programs, data systems, and sustainable services that are deployed to stores, clubs, transportation, home office and other facilities through store item spot checks and assessing the quality assurance and quality control of contractors; developing and analyzing financial.
Executes the global and national vision and strategy of the department for the development of policies that communicate the corporate position on environmental, safety, health, and transportation issues by communicating strategy to key stakeholders (for example, buyers, suppliers, store associates); assisting in the creation of strategies, data systems, and tools; staying informed of global and national trends and standards and national and state statutes and regulations; and supporting the execution of cross-functional environmental, safety, health, and transportation policies that are applicable, relevant, and appropriate for multiple programs (for example, chemical assessment reviews, exterior spill management compliance) across the enterprise in a manner that ensures organizational compliance.
Works within internal and external partnerships (for example, Environmental Services and Design Council, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation) to stay informed of new strategies, business changes and operational issues to ensure that all business endeavors are implemented in a compliant manner by examining and assisting in the development of communication strategies across applicable programs and organizations to identify, discuss, and bring resolution to all relevant issues; and working with key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of business plans for these initiatives.
Supports the development of compliance initiatives (for example, store claims processing, storm water fees, waste minimization) aligned with the department's strategic cross-functional risk identification and assessment procedures by assessing global and national corporate risk within environmental, safety, health, and transportation standards; directing practices, protocols, and tools that are applicable, relevant, and appropriate for use across multiple programs to store claims associates and contractors; and assisting in the development of risk assessment procedures through communicating and building support from key stakeholders (for example, Logistics, ISD, Realty, Construction, Leasing, Operations, Merchandising).
Assists in representing the company with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and external organizations by directing facility personnel regarding their involvement with regulators at federal, state and local levels; ensuring facility compliance with all environmental, safety, health, and transportation requirements; and attending corporate and non-governmental organization events (for example, water environment associations, Department of Transportation compliance seminars) to maintain subject matter expertise.
