Our Team

Our team is a part of Sam’s Club Guru Platform team @Walmart Labs. Our team is chartered with building the NLU/NLP Platform to enable multiple Club, EComm and Supply chain departments to manage their own digital assistant. Team is currently working on building open source-based platform to allow skill developers access to self-service tools to manage intents, entity types, webhooks, responses, and conversation flows

Your Opportunity

You will work closely with multiple Business and Product stakeholders to understand the requirements, drive design, code and test to deliver solution working closely with senior architects and leadership team. Join our young, highly energetic and dynamic team, and take part in defining the new age Guru Platform. You will also have challenging opportunities to cross-collaborate with inter-disciplinary product and engineering teams to solve some of the unique challenges in multi-channel shopping experience.

This position is responsible for the operation of a department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.

Your Responsibility

• Work with a team of Data Engineers and Software developers to successfully build and deploy cutting edge and scalable data platform for consumption by different stakeholders.
• Work very closely with various business stakeholders at various location in US and India to drive the development and execution of multiple business plans and technologies.
• Improve, optimize and identify opportunities for efficient software development processes
• Provide estimates for the work and deliver them as per plan with excellent quality.
• Mentor junior members in the team and provide them guidance on design and writing high quality code.
• Share ideas and provide key inputs to the product and leadership team on product/platform roadmap.
• Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate with product, engineering and management teams across different geographic locations.
• Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Your Qualifications

• An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS in any stream – Computer Science preferred.
• 6+ years of relevant experience, Minimum of 2 year of experience with agile principles and practices. Experience in leading Scrum teams.
• Hands on experience in building scalable cloud native software platforms/applications.
• Hands on experience applying design patterns and programming best practices.
• Very strong experience in Data Structures, Algorithms, Problem solving skills.
• Should have very strong design skills and write excellent code with high quality for production use in scalable systems.
• Strong Java/J2EE, Python or scripting development.
• 3+ years of experience with Java building multi-threaded high performance scalable applications.
• 3+ years of experience with automated unit and integration testing.
• 3+ years of experience with Maven.
• 3+ years of experience with Slf4j or Log4j.
• 3+ years of experience with Git or Mercurial.
• Must have strong SQL skills and DB knowledge, NoSQL.
• UI development skills will be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of CS Fundamentals, Data Structures, Algorithms and Problem Solving.
• Technical mindset and product development driven experience and ability to deep dive on technical issues and provide guidance to the team.
• Passion for quick learning and adapting in a fast-paced global environment.
• Strong sense of ownership, focus on quality, responsiveness, efficiency and innovation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with distributed teams in a collaborative and productive manner.

Preferrable

• Hands on Azure cloud services such as App Service, Batch Service, Storage Service, Search Service, Service Bus, Container Registries, Traffic Manager, App Insights.
• Hands on Docker container concepts and management.
• Hands on Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Cache, Spring Scheduling, Spring Async, Spring Configuration, Spring Framework.
• Hands on JUnit or TestNg and Mockito.
• Hands on Typescript and AngularJS.
• Basic understanding of NLU, NLP, machine learning.
