As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You'll oversee small project teams consisting of other engineers who will look to you as a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert who provides guidance and the right tools to get the job done.
About the team:
Walmart's Payments group is responsible for enabling the core services and systems that support customers' ability to pay for merchandise on the eCommerce platform, and to provide a bulletproof payment experience for customers in stores and online. Walmart is investing in transforming these spaces with latest technology and we are looking for talented individual who can use their engineering and leadership skills to help our teams solve complex problems. As a primary leader of the Payments processing team, you'll influence, coach and be a servant leader to multiple teams participating and contributing to transforming products and platforms in this space. You will be part of the application development team leading software design and implementation, problem solving, leading consistency across our team in quality standards, ensuring our teams adhere to micro-service architecture principles, research, and propose creative ideas that allows our teams to solve problems faster and provide engineering efficiency as they work with our customers to deliver world-class software solutions.
The Unified Payment team has been chartered to provide a singular payment solution for Walmart and its multitude of ecosystems.
The first milestone tasked for this team is to move payment processing workloads for US stores from mainframe-based system to a cloud native solution.
Payment processing is arguably one of the most critical functions for any retailer, more so for Walmart considering its size and customer focus.
Being a unified payment solution, it will also be handling ecommerce and omni channel payment workloads across Walmart and its subsidiaries.
Being a highly visible application on the customer journey critical path makes this a high impact application on the customer experience.
You have and can implement big ideas with a positive attitude. You want to be a part of the team to disrupt this industry and you have these main skills:
Extensive understanding of Kubernetes, Helm, Microservice architecture and design, and best practices around multithreading, distributed transactions and JVM performance tuning
Expert level knowledge and understanding of Data structures, Java, Spring Boot, and experience working with distributed systems and teams.
Experience with refactoring/redesigning/rewriting existing applications is a plus (We are in the process of redesigning and refactoring of our current platform)
Ability to build products with focus on testability, someone who loves test coverage (well versed with Mockito and JUnit) and desires functional testing through (Cucumber/Karate)
A disciplined approach to development, code review, testing, documentation and code structure in a team environment.
A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things to the next level and a passion for adopting the latest features in Kubernetes, Java, and Spring Boot.
Ability to leverage public cloud (GCP/Azure) and tune up production environments through systematic alerting and logging strategies.

Skill Set Additions
Knowledge of technologies used in building scalable, distributed systems in virtualized cloud environments.
Ability to design for fault tolerance and high availability.
Have proficient knowledge and experience with Google Cloud Ecosystem.
Demonstrated knowledge of the following Programming Languages: Java, Python, Bash, Build Manager (Maven), Distributed Version Control (GIT), Continuous Integration (Jenkins) experience.
Ability to understand network traffic and assess firewall rules required for communication.
Solid DevOps skills in troubleshooting live applications, assessing performance bottlenecks of applications running on Linux
Develop high-performance and scalable solutions that run distributed transactions from various payment processors.
