Lead and direct large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions. Design world-class high-performance user interfaces or prototypes. Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; while ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open-Door Policy.

Walmart Health (WMH) is on a mission to make Healthcare Affordable, Convenient and Accessible. We are the technology arm of WMH focused on building a technology platform that will enable value-based care and deliver better outcomes at lower cost for our customers. 

As a Principal Architect on the Walmart Health Technology team, you will be working with cutting-edge technology to build user interfaces for Virtual Care Health platform that will be integrated with one of the leading EMR systems. The platform will empower our customers to access their personal and family health information and provide tools to live healthier. At the same time, the platform will help improve productivity of our healthcare providers so they can focus on delivering safe and high-quality care at affordable prices.

You’ll make an impact by:

As a Principal UI Architect, you will be responsible for leading design and implementation of user interfaces and coaching our staff engineers who are an integral part of our tight-knit group of dedicated problem solvers. The ideal candidate should be able to quickly make an impact on the Health Platform team and work with the larger organization to deliver innovative and delightful experiences to our customers and associates.

What you’ll bring

  • In-depth knowledge of industry best practices, technologies, architectures, and emerging technologies specifically in designing user interfaces
  • Experience delivering high performance user interfaces for applications at scale leveraging public cloud.
  • Experience driving engineering design using Agile processes to drive innovation, accelerate decisions and outcomes while minimizing risk.
  • Experience in making successful trade-offs that balance the short- and long-term goals and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development lifecycle in all phases—from initial ideation, to implementation, and testing.
  • Design user-friendly user interfaces of modern web application using AngularJS/React, that are responsive, deliver excellent user experience and smooth performance and aligned with the UX prototypes.
  • Design and oversee implementation of UI interfaces with Core UI Team that works closely with the UX team.
  • Design user interfaces that link with back-end services, APIs, and processes across multiple products.
  • Take initiative to improve upon coding standards, clarify requirements, and seek opportunities for growth.
  • Work with Product Owners, Stakeholders, and other team members to translate the requirements into final deliverables ensuring the technical feasibility of UX designs.
  • Optimizing application for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Work closely with QA to deliver quality UI code in an agile environment.
  • Foster an Agile engineering culture that leverages decoupled systems and automated CI/CD/testing/monitoring

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in design interfaces to align to project scope, drive interface testing strategies with solution teams and lead interface design and specification review sessions with product teams

  • Experience with user-centered design principles and practices

  • Exposure to telehealth or large EMR/EHR systems.

  • Exposure to HL7 and FHIR.

  • 10+ years of experience delivering highly scalable and resilient user interfaces.

  • 4+ years of experience designing secure and scalable services on Azure/GCP.

  • 7+ years of Azure, GCP or similar cloud services experience.

  • Solid understanding of Accessibility concerns and SEO fundamentals

  • In-depth experience delivering geo-distributed architectural solutions.

  • Strong ability to orchestrate, maintain, and deploy user interface using infrastructure as code and containerized deployments.

  • Experience building and working in a Continuous Delivery environment.

  • Expert level programming skills creating applications using UI front end frameworks such as Angular, understands React and Node.js

  • Solid understanding of Angular best practices, style guide, testing, and component architecture

  • Expert in frontend web development including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript.

  • Must have experience in building light weight interfaces using REST/JSON API
