What you'll do...
Provide direct support to Walmart Unemployment Services and stores by ensuring proper notification to and assessment of witnesses for the hearing, preparing evidence and the witness with pertinent information, including but not limited to, case details, previous submitted documentation, hearing notice with instructions, specific evidentiary exhibits to be submitted, hearing etiquette and process, and general expectations for the appeal’s process. Provide continuous improvement recommendations for initial claims process and hearing support functions based on learnings and insights.
Identify the issues to be decided at the hearing. Prepare and submit relevant documentation central to the appeal to the state utilizing each state guidelines for submission of evidence. Compile evidence and label exhibits to submit to judge, claimant, and WMT (hearing rep and store witnesses). Identify and label relevant portions of documentation. Prepare witness testimony by providing responses to basic questions (first day worked, last day worked, final rate of pay, position, position description, policy violated, description of policy). Review the completed packet with witness during the prep call. Ensure witness understands and can adequately testify from each exhibit. Follow up thank you notes to the hearing participants.
Analyzes and Interprets data to support Global Shared Services by, identifying analysis and reporting requirements gathering and synthesizing data utilizing systems and tools to pull information (for example, Teradata, First Strike, Hadoop, global inventory system, SAP, Global Supplier Management Tool, INMAR, InfoPath, E-clinical works (ECW), ERR, MapPoint); reviewing data results to ensure accuracy; and testing systems to ensure data integrity.
Supports business processes for Global Shared Services (for example, cash applications, master data management, reporting, audit) by, gathering necessary information from internal and external sources; organizing and compiling data from multiple sources into one format; ensuring data is available for reporting and review (for example, regulatory compliance, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), HPPA); creating reports; tracking and analyzing documents, trends, inconsistencies, issues, and results; compiling data and information for business decisions; and submitting reports to management for review.
Assists with special projects for Global Shared Services by, supporting the development and implementation of data solutions; working with cross-functional teams (Asset Protection, Central Operations, Accounting and Controls, Global Back Office Solutions (GBOS), Global Process Office, Health and Wellness, Finance, Merchandising, Walmart Technology, third-party vendors) and documenting process improvements.
Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.
Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, paralegal certification, advanced degree such as a J.D. or MBA
- Experience: 1 year in the legal field or supporting the hearings process.
