This role will be a key member of Marketplace Partner Payments financial operations with a focus on building & managing predictive models along with providing analytical support for payments risk mitigation while achieving operational excellence into financial services solutions for our Marketplace sellers.

We are looking for a strong analytics & data science professional to help us manage our payments portfolio risk around credit and fraud landscape through means of designing and implementing novel statistical techniques and who is equally enthusiastic to bring forth new patterns and insights through exploratory data analysis.

What you'll do

  • Build statistical models and risk segmentation schemes using advanced data science methodologies to predict seller risk behavior, negative balance around credit and fraud risk, and identify anomalies for payment risk mitigation and loss prevention
  • Drive end-to-end analytics around various projects such as seller lending, cash flow analysis, addressing merchants cash flow challenges through faster payments etc.; make data-driven decisions and automate the processes on a large scale.
  • Analyze large and complex payments and non-payments related data such as order fulfillment, order categorization, shipments etc. and identify opportunities in a complex or ambiguous area and translate into actionable insights
  • Create payments dashboards, monitor risk trends, and conduct deep dive analysis on issues related to seller fulfillment etc.  to understand the root causes, drive and automate strategic risk actions for partner payments
  • Supporting data acquisition and augmentation around third-party integrations addressing marketplace seller needs.
  • Measure and optimize business metrics such as Alert rate, False positives etc., improve payments SLA and operational efficiency with the use of advanced analytics
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Partner Operations, Trust & Safety, product, engineering, and other partner performance teams to support roadmap for payments risk and data science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 7 years relevant experience, in a highly quantitative field (i.e. Applied Math, Engineering, Statistics, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Analytics, Operations Research, or related field preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in analytics and data science, business intelligence (BI), or comparable.
  • Experience in Financial services industry preferably in Payments, strategic risk consulting, credit or fraud risk management preferred is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in excel and relational databases (SQL, ETL etc.)
  • Strong Programming skills in any language (Python, R, Java, Scala, etc.) and familiarity with Machine Learning packages
  • Hadoop experience (Hive or Spark) preferred
  • Solid understanding ecommerce business metrics and KRIs and the ability to discover new ones as required
  • Experience driving projects toward clear business goals, testable hypotheses, and action-oriented outcomes
  • Team player, strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to thrive independently in a highly ambiguous and dynamic environment

Option 1- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
