About the Team

As a part of the International Emerging Tech Team, you will work with stakeholders in various parts of the business & world (merchandising, supply chain, store operations, eCom etc.) to define their true problems and work with the Product & Engineering teams to build emerging tech systems to solve them. You will think constantly about the potential futures, the implications for Walmart globally, the right strategy and rally the organization to build & test cutting-edge technology. 

About the Role

  • As a Senior UX Designer we need your expertise to make an impact in highly strategic and important initiatives.
  • Specifically, your role is to apply your deep knowledge of user experience design (UX/UI, conceptual design, prototyping, testing and customer experience research) to our core shopping experiences and deeply empathize with the user.
  • You will liaise within cross-functional partnerships across Business, Product, and Engineering and dedicate their collective creativity and execution to delivering experiences that bring joy to our customers/users, meeting them where they are.
  • Owning and crafting effective designs from top to bottom to create fantastic and effective customer facing tool experiences across multiple platforms.
  • The right fit is an advanced creative and strategic designer, passionate for building in the B2B/C2B spaces, who will jump in and make an immediate impact.

What you will do

  • Think conceptually – applying a user-centered approach to requirements and interdependencies – to develop engaging interfaces
  • Think visually – using techniques like storyboards and sketching – to communicate interaction design concepts (prototyping, conceptual design, testing)
  • Make design decisions based on good judgement, experience, research and data
  • Have a real impact at scale through new product launches and incremental improvements that effect billions of our customers everyday
  • Define, execute, and invent research methods appropriate to the questions at hand, including but not limited to field research, lab studies and remote testing
  • Help teams understand customer needs, attitudes, and behaviors through your testing
  • Write narratives about the customer experience including understanding the tech solutions needed to create that experience
  • Be part of a fun, humble team, always learning, collaborating with other designers to deliver a cohesive user centered experience
  • You have a test and learn mentality and an agile way of working to improve your team’s products
  • You understand how to work as a startup in a large corporation

Minimum Qualifications...

  • Portfolio of work demonstrating breadth and depth in UX and visual design. This should also include approach and process.
  • Bachelor’s degree in: Design (UX/UI Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communications Design); Human Computer Interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience as a UX designer, Information designer (UX/UI), Interaction designer
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD.
  • Conducting quantitative & qualitative on-line research methodologies with systems (for example, UserZoom, Keynote)
  • Designing front-end user experience solutions for mobile applications on major smartphone platforms (for example, Android, iOS)
  • Sound business judgment as well as ability to think clearly, gather qualitative research, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements, and prioritize
  • Must be able and willing to think and act strategically and tactically
  • Customer Experience Researcher background is crucial

Preferred Qualifications...

  • MBA a huge plus!
  • 8+ years’ experience in UX Design
  • Data and Ethnographic Research-driven mindset
  • Experience designing user interfaces for data visualization or business intelligence (analytics) products
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills – including the ability to present design concepts clearly and persuasively to colleagues, stakeholders, and senior executives
  • Sound business judgment as well as ability to think clearly, gather qualitative/quantitative research, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements, and prioritize
