What you'll do...
This role leads Walmart's Marketing Analytics Data Enablement team. The position oversees web & app tracking instrumentation and training, marketing data infrastructure and platform, marketing data engineering & data integration, marketing attribution model implementation, and the development of data products to enable marketers to achieve a broad range of objectives across media channels. Central to these efforts will be a passion for ensuring that the team's technology and data solutions are well tailored to help drive the business and address the needs of stakeholders.
This position supports a broad range of internal constituents and external partners, and requires a combination of skills & experience, including people leadership, communications & relationship development, reporting & complex data visualization, data automation in scale in cloud-based computing environments, technical product management, and a strong knowledge of marketing strategy and advanced marketing measurement & optimization techniques.
What you'll do...
Lead the Walmart's Marketing Data Enablement team. Serve as a key leader within the Performance Marketing function.
Responsible for Walmart's Marketing Analytics data infrastructure, data processing and management, marketing attribution model implementation, and delivery of all key marketing reporting and data products to internal and external partners.
Oversee web and app instrumentation, training, system administration, and vendor relationship management.
Develop marketing reporting tools and data products which communicate marketing performance, customer engagement and business drivers in simple terms to all levels. Build trust and align teams to strategic reporting solutions.
Manage SLAs regarding marketing data availability and quality to enable marketing performance reporting, analytics, and marketing optimization. Identify opportunities to build automated processes and tools to improve marketing efficiency.
Determine data quality strategy, metrics, and business rules for a business domain to ensure that data is fit for purpose. Design and implement operational Data Quality Management (DQM) procedures. Monitor operational DQM procedures and performance. Lead data quality initiatives. Provide recommendations to leadership on needed updates to data governance policies, practices, and guidelines.
Develop capability requirements and transition plan for the next generation of marketing data enablement technology, tools, and processes, to enable Walmart to efficiently improve marketing performance with scale. Ensures the Walmart Marketing organization has access to and ability to use and apply state-of-the-art tools.
Drive best practices and standards around the usage of data platforms & tools.
Partner with leadership across Walmart as a thought leader. Makes and influences strategic decisions for long-term growth. Comfortable providing input to leadership on strategic plans and assumptions.
Takes a forward-looking view of capability needs and aligns resources according to strategic objectives.
Evaluate proposed business cases for projects and initiatives. Approve strategies, initiatives, and projects Determine metrics and performance indicators. Outline business cases to be developed and drive delivery of work that has meaningful return on investment to the business.
Implement data governance practices. Handle business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection.

Technical knowledge of big data analytics and business intelligence, ideally within marketing technology. Experience deploying data science models and reporting solutions in scale, preferably worked with building Data tools from ground up.

Understanding business context and strategy across product, merchandising, finance and marketing. Ability to define relevant business metrics and business areas.
Ability to perform exploratory data analysis. Requires knowledge of relevant Knowledge Discovery in Data (KDD) tools, applications, or scripting languages such as SQL, Oracle, Apache Mahout, MS Excel, Python, and basic statistical analysis techniques to test and evaluate data accuracy, consistency, and patterns, including applying statistical hypothesis and testing techniques.
Knowledge of data quality management techniques and standards; Data profiling tools, data cleansing tools, data integration tools, and issues and event management tools.
Expertise developing data visualization guidelines and best practices for complex data types, to meet business requirements and drive insights and action. Technical proficiency with multiple data visualization tools (for example, Python, R libraries, GGplot, Matplotlib, Ploty, Tableau, PowerBI etc.).

Familiarity with data basics, structure, and relationships. Experience querying data from large enterprise databases. SQL proficiency a plus; not required.

6-8 years relevant experience in technical product management, or in roles with responsibility over data strategy and data operations dealing with large volumes of data in cloud based distributed computing environments.
Graduate degree preferred in a quantitative discipline (e.g., economics, math, operations research).
Minimum of 2-3 years leadership experience within a large organization, preferably in retail.
Proven ability to solve enterprise level data operations problems at scale which require cross-functional collaboration for solution development, implementation, and adoption.
