The Senior Manager, Global Communications, is a strategic thinker and communicator, thirsting for something new each day. Join the Global Communications team at Walmart and make an impact not only on the future of retail, but on topics and issues the whole world is watching.
This position specifically supports the 360-communications strategy for Walmart Connect, which fuels Walmart's $2 billion global advertising business. Walmart Connect's closed-loop, omnichannel solutions help advertisers capitalize on Walmart's deep customer insights to our physical and digital reach across the U.S. We're on a journey to become a top advertising platform, and Walmart Connect is already a widely recognized retail media leader with a rapidly growing team from talented backgrounds across advertising and ad tech nationwide.
We are seeking a seasoned communicator to champion Walmart Connect's story through cross-industry thought leadership to boost brand awareness, via a wide-range of functions within our holistic communications program. Reporting to Walmart Connect's communications lead, this horizontal, 360-comms role will be a senior partner specializing as our team's "voice of industry." The Senior Manager will focus primarily on targeted, industry activations such as executive speaking engagements, business and executive recognition (awards), and social media strategy. However, every member of our end-to-end communications team has the ability to influence and contribute to areas like PR or internal communications. No sharp elbows or narrow lanes here, this is a space for career growth!
How you'll make an impact:
Social media: Lead Walmart Connect's social media strategy and day-to-day social media management/content development.
External engagements: Support external speaking opportunities for key voices within Walmart Connect, from developing talk tracks (speechwriting) to pre/post-event content and amplification.
Thought leadership content: Lead and support industry-targeted content, such as whitepapers and thought-leadership videos (in partnership with other team functions.)
Industry recognition: Strategize and lead opportunities for industry recognition, such as business or leader award submissions.
Influential assets: Manage internal/external communications assets and resources, such as fact sheets and media trackers and internal communications hub.
Supporting PR initiatives, advertiser outreach and internal communications as needed, as part of a 360 communications team.
Develop & measure the effectiveness of stories and messages across multiple channels - from social media to speaking opportunities (paid and earned.)
Provide strategic counsel to Walmart Connect partners and advance business priorities through communication. Your ability to jump in with executive presence and a thought leadership perspective is key.
Establish clear processes - or optimize existing workflows - with business partners and setting shared priorities.
Effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams - including marketing and training teams, product, sales, insights and analysts, legal, and colleagues across the enterprise - to advance objectives.
You'll sweep us off our feet if:
You have a deep understanding of retail media or the advertising and ad tech industry at large, industry trends and the current challenges facing marketers.
You're a storyteller, creative thinker and a visionary with a passion for our workstreams. You're a master at making complex subjects easily understood, and create compelling stories that resonate with targeted audiences.
You have broad experience as a 360 communicator, from media relations to client communications to supporting executives. You have demonstrated expertise developing talking points/speechwriting, and expertise (at any level) with social media management.
You have a high bar for writing, grammar, and high attention to detail to deliver high-quality, customer-obsessed content. You'll knock us over completely with a proven ability to think like a journalist - either with a background in PR or in media.
You are a self-starter and have strong interpersonal, project management, and analytical skills. You're organized, disciplined and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Extra points for having a background in navigating complex organizations to GSD.
You have the ability to problem-solve using frameworks, analysis, and cross functional influence.
You have 8+ years' experience in building and managing communications programs with deep expertise in message development.
