Senior Manager I, Procurement
What you'll do at
Oversees the purchase of third party carrier transportation in support of domestic inbound transportation by conducting annual network requests-for-proposal (RFP) to source transportation capacity utilizing truckload, less than truckload (LTL), Intermodal, and other modes; conducting incremental RFPs to support Walmart business units; planning and facilitating capacity coverage in response to transportation demands (for example, contingency, network realignments, peak merchandise flows); and coordinating with Information Systems Division (ISD) to develop and improve procurement systems. Manages carrier relationships and Walmart Transportation business portfolio by recruiting new vendors to meet the transportation demand; ensuring carrier diversity in the Transportation portfolio; ensuring Transportation portfolio meets Walmart goals (for example, revenue, growth, portfolio covenants); serving as the carrier liaison between Operations and Freight Payment; assisting carriers to establish network stabilization, incumbency, and lane balance; providing recommendations to business units on opportunities and concerns; and facilitating communication with the carrier base to provide education on inbound transportation strategies, initiatives, and trends in the transportation sector. Sources incremental capacity due to network realignments, seasonal demand, and calculating future demand to support and assist Operations and Replenishment/Merchandising by identifying logistical opportunities between the Walmart supply chain and high volume vendors to procure cost effective transportation; assisting the Private Fleet to define lanes and volumes to best utilize equipment and lower cost; and partnering with Store Operations to provide logistical and transportation assistance. Analyzes the domestic historical transportation load data to create lane definition and forecast future demand to conduct the network requests-for-proposal (RFP) by communicating with business unit leadership to understand current and future transportation projections; translating requests into quantitative data; and maintaining communication with carriers to understand potential impact of future initiatives, industry trends, and network changes Minimum Qualifications...Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position.
