Senior Manager II, Privacy - Compliance
What you'll do at
Ensures compliance for retention and disposal of electronic and paper records by overseeing the development and maintenance of policies and procedures as needed to accommodate changing business and regulatory requirements; supporting forecast and strategy related to budget, physical space, and technology to address conversion of paper to electronic records, and expansion of electronic records across the business to align with organizational technology strategy for the long and short term; and developing and monitoring metrics to assess the effectiveness of the records retention program. Manages, responds to and mitigates potential data incidents by collaborating with vice presidents, associate general counsels, senior directors, and directors across multiple teams in the development and maturity of Walmart's procedures and processes to respond effectively in the event of a known or suspected breach of information; participating and presenting in meetings of key leadership and decision makers in order to develop and execute agreed-upon action plans; developing implementation strategy and providing execution support as needed to notify associates and customers, as required by law, when they are victims of a security breach; identifying and removing barriers and obstacles that impact effective data breach response; providing guidance to relevant business units regarding associate disciplinary actions and required training and mitigation plans; and participating in on-call rotation for data incident response. Develops and executes strategy for associate commitment to privacy, records management, and security by developing and implementing home office training and awareness programs through computer based learning; participating in awareness events (for example, home office security expo, holiday meetings, year beginning meetings); providing customized privacy and records management training for specific business units; communicating complex privacy and data issues and complex records management issues, within the organization and across external parties, in response to executive strategy for compliance management and development. Leads strategic efforts for privacy and data protection and records management best practices by researching, interpreting, and analyzing proposed federal and state privacy and data protection laws and laws related to records; mapping current trends and process gaps with respect to corporate initiatives; implementing appropriate strategies and procedures relative to an evolving environment; collaborating with cross functional teams on the impact of new and changing regulations in privacy and records; developing implementation strategies to meet new legal requirements and/or address identified gaps; providing recommendations to leverage new technologies related to privacy, data protection and records while considering long-term implications of changing technologies and potential business challenges; researching operational requirements to identify trends and patterns; collaborating with Corporate Affairs to develop analysis and responses to lawmakers regarding proposed local, state and Enables business functions to realize their business goals and further company strategy by developing and supporting initiatives, practices, and plans for delivery of privacy-compliant and records-compliant solutions; adding input to privacy and records related sections of key contracts; serving as the primary Privacy or Records point of contact across multiple business areas to provide subject matter expertise across business units; proactively participating in external industry groups to help define industry direction; applying experience and insight to advise and guide associates and supervisors facing privacy-related challenges; supporting leadership in executing the risk assessment processes and implementing corrective actions and mitigation strategies; analyzing compliance audit results to determine areas of compliance risk; and evaluating business initiatives for privacy and records compliance and best practices prior to release to customers or associates.
