Senior Manager, Media Relations
What you'll do at
As a Senior Manager I of Global Communications, you will: Represent and protect the Walmart brand in the media by driving positive messaging highlighting business initiatives and combatting negative narratives. Serve as a company spokesperson to ensure complex and sensitive statements and key messages are provided to the media. Act as the first point of contact for stores experiencing media-related issues, providing guidance and gathering information to assist in crafting messaging. Write, edit, and approve communications materials. Coordinate messaging approval process with internal clients, Corporate Communications partners, and Legal. Ensure key external audiences understand Walmart's culture and values Partner with internal teams to assess risk and provide consistent messaging throughout our internal and external channels. Provide guidance to and collaborate with internal business partners during times of crisis to ensure that consistent, accurate messaging is released internally and externally in a timely manner. Draft and finalize recommendations for proactive media outreach and crisis communication. Develop, maintain, and leverage relationships with national, local, and online journalists and bloggers for proactive and reactive media stories while mitigating and elevating potential media opportunities. Craft and execute comprehensive media plans for Walmart's corporate and business unit clients to enhance the company's reputation by researching global business and societal trends to identify proactive and reactive public relations opportunities. Help identify emerging digital and social media technologies and trends, incorporating best practices into communications plans and execution. Monitor company media coverage and report to internal clients and business partners.
