Senior Software Developer - Frontend, Backend, Stack, or Mobile

The Market Intelligence team is at the forefront of building core platforms and services which provide data to the merchandising and pricing teams thus enabling Walmart to remain competitive and relevant to the customer.

You will architect, design, develop and lead by influence, a world class group of engineers across geographical locations that are bound by a common Walmart-wide theme of creating elegant solutions for complex problems and enabling customers to save more and live better - every single day. You'll apply your coding capabilities and distributed systems competencies to the improvement of existing products and the development of new software solutions at Walmart-scale. You'll sweep us off our feet if ...

• You have solid experience in designing and developing large scale distributed systems and event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, Cassandra, CosmosDB in a hybrid Cloud environment

• You are a self-starter who balances technical thinking with customer-centered solutions

• You can implement new architectural patterns, and perform design and code reviews

• You can lead the design and development of backend microservices and REST APIs using the JVM ecosystem and other languages and frameworks

• You have the ability to build products with focus on testability, someone who loves test coverage (well versed with Mockito and JUnit)

You'll make an impact by...

• Designing and developing medium to large distributed systems that process large volumes of data; focusing on scalability and resilience in every system that you build

• Demonstrating technical skills that go very deep in solving classes of problems or creating broadly leverageable systems

• Collaborating with key product leads and fellow engineers to achieve results - Position yourself as a cross-functional partner, one who understands intra-departmental and enterprise objectives as well as technological constraints and capabilities.

• Troubleshooting business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; performs root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues

• Leading by example. Show your chops as an exceptional and experienced developer.

What you'll bring...

• Experience in designing and developing large scale distributed systems and APIs.

• Experience in designing and architecting small to large solutions using appropriate design patterns and displaying strong problem solving and analytical skills

• Advanced knowledge of at least one programming language like Java, C++, Python

• Hands on knowledge of SQL or No SQL technologies

• Exposure to technologies like Flink, Spark, Hadoop and Hive

• Experience in Kafka, Kafka Streams, stream processing frameworks

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in CS/CSE or related field with 5-7 yrs. of experience
