As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You'll oversee small project teams consisting of other engineers who will look to you as a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert who provides guidance and the right tools to get the job done. You'll be responsible for evaluating large amounts of data as part of the ongoing effort to optimize processes and delivery protocols. You'll operate as a trusted advisor as it relates to efficiencies and best practices. As a member of our team, you'll be able to say that you work for the world's largest retailer and contribute to the development to best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it.

What you'll do:

• Drive design, development, implementation, and documentation
• Build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting associates of Sam's club.
• Interact with Sam's Tech engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
• Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the technical discoveries, design, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.
• Drive the success of the implementation by applying technical skills, to design and build enhanced processes and technical solutions in support of strategic initiatives.
• Lead, inspire and mentor/coach junior teammates and set the technical direction of initiatives.
• Work closely with the Architects and cross functional teams and follow established practices for the delivery of solutions meeting QCD (Quality, Cost & Delivery). Within the established architectural guidelines.

Your Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's in computer science or related degree / relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in design and development of highly scalable applications and platform development in product-based companies or R&D divisions.
• 2+ years of leading teams and helping them drive initiatives and deliver results.
• Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns.
• Extensive hands-on experience building full stack applications using these technologies -Java, Springboot, Microservices, React, Javascript, HTML, CSS (frontend technologies are not a must-have, but are highly desirable)
• Good understanding of NoSQL databases and Big data (Cassandra, Kafka)as well as relational databases (SQLServer)
• Knowledge of Cloud Architecture (Azure), Microservice Architecture and related stacks and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Agile methodologies and DevOps
• CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Well versed in TDD, BDD methodologies and the enabling tools and technologies - JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, CI/CD etc.
• Strong hands on development skills to prototype technical solutions.
• Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly. Proficient in new and emerging technologies.
• Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.
• Practitioner of Agile (Scrum) methodology

About the Team

Sam's Club has started the Curbside Pickup and Ship from Club initiative to enable safety and convenience while shopping for the members during COVID pandemic. Quick Pick is a Sam's Club developed software product that will enable the end to end experience and Fulfilment to Dispense, of e-Commerce orders. Members place orders on Samsclub.com. and orders can be delivered to home or picked up in the clubs. Once Quick Pick receives the order it will prep it for processing, the end to end process of picking, dispensing, and shipping the order is handled by this team.
