Staff Data Scientist

Position Description

As part of Walmart's Supply Chain Data & Analytics team, the Staff Data Scientist is responsible for developing advanced data science solutions to empower Supply Chain Operations with analytical tools and solutions.  This role is responsible for driving predictive and prescriptive analytics adoption to advance data-driven insights and decision-making while assisting the leaders in building a network of influence with leaders and key stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 5 years' data science experience OR Master of Science and 2 years' data science experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Masters or Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering / Operations Research / Computational Mathematics/Statistics/Machine Learning with 4-5 years’ experience in analytics or related field.

• Proficient coding in one or more languages: Java, C++, Python, Spark, Scala, or R
• Proven advanced modeling experience in leading data-driven projects from definition to execution, driving and influencing project roadmaps
• Deep expertise in writing and debugging complex SQL queries
• Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills
• Problem solving skills / Abstract thinking – ability to understand a real-life problem, make the right judgement of problem statement, and give a feasible design of solution.
• Experience in interacting with business stakeholders and effectively drive conversations.
• Experience on leveraging visualization to build compelling stories based on context to integrate multiple pieces of information into cohesive insights

Additionally, for OR background:

• Solid knowledge of Operations Research topics including Mixed Integer Programming, Combinatorial Optimization Problems.
• Experience of using commercial/open-source solvers such as Gurobi, Xpress, CPLEX.

Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 6 years' experience in an analytics or related field
