Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Our Data Science team is building a first-in-class platform of tools and services covering high-performance computing, ML training services, DevOps, model deployment, and metadata capture; our goal is to decrease AI/ML development/training cycle time and raise the quality bar on AI/ML's shipped services by drastically simplifying the process of AI/ML Engineering.

This is a hands-on position where you will be empowered to be creative, ambitious, and bold. Our mission on the Data Science team is to provide deep computing expertise, automated workflows, production-grade infrastructure, and helpful tooling to enable the AI/ML team and our partners to solve cutting-edge research problems in the retail space and translate their solutions into a direct impact on the business and on members. The ML Engineer function embeds directly with AI/ML project teams doing cutting-edge work, serving as the voice of expertise in software engineering, scientific computing at scale, and expert problem-solving.

• Responsibilities
  • Embed with AI/ML and data science project teams to provide deep expertise in software engineering, parallel computing, and big data tools
  • Help to guide the AI/ML Platform Engineering team's efforts based on first-hand experience on projects using our tools
  • Work with partners in data platform, general computing, and similar teams to ensure the AI/ML org has the data, computing resources, and workflows/abstractions needed to do our best work
  • Be part of the team responsible for helping deliver an enterprise-grade AI-driven data and messaging platform
  • Help run our ML/AI infrastructure with tools like VertexAI, Element and k8s.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure-as-code (IaC)
  • Help deliver next-level metrics, monitoring, visualization, and alert tooling to give Data Scientists, Developers, QA Engineers and SREs deep visibility into the health of the services across all environments
  • Assist the rest of Production Engineering in protecting the health of the Production environment
  • Work with the QA/TestEng and SRE teams to make the deployment process as efficient and boring as possible
  • Work with architects to implement the baseline technologies, policies, and practices to build a high-velocity, high-security, strong compliance platform that allows scaling to support exponential growth
  • Debug issues across environments, services, and tools
  • Establish strong relationships with other teams in order to positively influence them in their pursuit of automation and toil reduction, and to keep the rest of our team apprised of upcoming initiatives
• Required
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Expertise in software development
  • Expertise in CI/CD and DevOps practices
  • Expertise in k8s
  • Hands on experience in defining CI/CD pipelines for enterprises e.g. Concord/Looper/etc.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining high volume APIs
  • Experience in QA and SRE
• Nice to Have

  • Experience with and understanding of best practices in Machine Learning, software engineering, and production deployment of ML services

  • Experience with Kubeflow, MLFlow and MLOps practices

  • Experience deploying applications in GCP and Azure

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics or related field. Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Option 3: 4 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
