R-1072212 Director – Merchandise Finance Decision Support

The Director - Merchandise Finance Decision Support serves on the Walmart Merchandise Finance Team.  The Merchandise Finance Decision Support Team oversees finance and long-term operational planning and strategy functions in monitoring performance, addressing risks, and process improvements through modeling and analysis.  Reporting to the Senior Director, the Director will guide operational planning, budgeting, and forecasting and analysis and be responsible for the reporting function therein with respect to profitability, margin, and variance.  The Director collaborates with Merchandising, Operations, eCommerce, Logistics and other business partners to establish innovative and accurate financial planning objectives with full visibility to senior-level and executive management. The Director will support projects, create financial models, gather and process feedback, and improve departmental processes and reporting operations.  This position will serve as a key financial FP&A and decision support manager for our Merchandise Finance mission.

Position Summary... What You'll Do...
 

  • Provides direction and oversight of the financial planning process by managing financial analysis and modeling; recommending future expense targets; reporting financial analysis; and planning of business performance in partnership across multiple areas
  • Offers decision support for domain groups by developing financial forecasts; assisting with business solutions; leading ad-hoc projects as requested by business domain groups; analyzing financial impact of technologies, systems, and processes and providing insights to senior management; and assisting in project implementation
  • Collaborates with senior management to plan and analyze business performance by identifying gaps between business goals and corporate objectives
  • Shares insight on relevant historical trends, expected future events, and retail trends
  • Develops and communicates business plans and priorities; identifying and removing barriers that impact performance
  • Promotes and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, mission, values, and ethics standards through training and execution
  • Supports and participates in community outreach events

You’ll sweep us off our feet if…
 

  • You are a proven leader with deep experience in FP&A with a high-volume business, working across Retail Merchandising, eCommerce, Operations, or Logistics.
  • You are skilled in short term and long-range financial planning for Merchandising, Operations, Retail, eCommerce, Digital Commerce or Omni-Channel, and Supply Chain or Logistics. 
  • You have a track record of coming up with inventive and sustainable solutions.
  • You showcase an ability to operate comfortably with ambiguity and support the business through multiple complex initiatives.
  • You have shown an ability to build relationships and influence without authority.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate and communicate at the necessary level of detail depending on the audience, including senior executives.
  • You possess excellent oversight and operating plan knowledge, problem-solving skills, mastery of financial modeling and data analytics, experience improving processes, and skill leading teams.
  • You are able to think outside-the-box and have excellent negotiation skills with different stakeholders and the financial acumen to support your negotiations. 
  • You are stimulated by challenges and are ready to engage at Fortune 1 scale.
