This role will be focused on the Marketplace Customer Experience, Traffic and Discovery platform. Our team is growing, and we are looking for a highly motivated Senior Manager I, Software Engineering - Backend who will play a critical role in the design and implementation of some of our core applications and their APIs. The Customer Experience and Discovery team's mission is to offer a best-in-class, resilient, scalable and best in class ecosystem for Walmart partners.
In this role, you will develop highly scalable services to process millions of requests per day and solve complex software engineering problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology. You will drive projects of high visibility across the organizationwhileleadingthe work of other small groups of six to ten engineersacross geographies.
About the team:
Marketplace Engineering team is at the forefront of building core platforms and services to enable Walmart to deliver vast selection at competitive prices and with best-in-class post-order experience by enabling third-party sellers to list, sell and manage their products to our customers on walmart.com. We do this by managing the entire seller lifecycle, monitoring customer experience, and deliver high- value insights to our sellers to help them plan their assortment, price, inventory. The team also actively collaborates with partner platform teams to ensure we continue to deliver the best experience to our sellers and our customers.
We are looking for a software engineering leader who is entrepreneurial, results-oriented and loves to solve complex problems using cutting edge Technology. The successful candidate is one who loves to work in a fast-paced environment, is highly customer driven and passionate about creating Business impact through Tech. This position would be expected to work with Product partners in shaping the product vision and take end to end ownership of program delivery. It involves regular communication with all stakeholders. This position would be part of 4 in the box experience team where you are expected to work hand in hand with Product and Business partners, understand Business needs, translate them into Technology features.

Providing cross-functional leadership: Working cross-functionally with product, engineering, program, and business teams to deliver omni-solutions across the globe
Developing and executing plans: Drive the execution of multiple business plans and tech initiatives. Effectively communicate execution, capacity, resource plans, and priorities
Building strategic relationships: Partner with peer teams to help design omni-presence solution across stores and online
Operating with excellence- Set an example in managing code quality via reviews, coverage, automation for core application and peer teams. Contribute to technology backlog based on reviews.
Building ML solutions: Partnering with Data Science in building ML solutions.

What you'll bring:
Bachelor of Science and 12 years' experience in software engineering OR Master of Science and 7 years' experience in software engineering
5+ years of People leadership experience in managing teams and designing and architecting full stack software engineering solutions
In-depth knowledge of technologies such as Java, Rest API, Big Data, Event driven design React.js, Node.js, Messaging Technologies (MQ Series, Kafka), Spring Boot, SQL, SQL Databases, Containerization
Understanding of cloud technologies and designing solutions deployed to Azure & Google Cloud Platform
Engage in technical design and discussions and also help drive technical architecture
Ensure the happiness and productivity of the team's software engineers
Help mitigate risk (technical, product, personnel)
Collaborate with other scrum teams, QA, Release Management, Program Management, and TechOps.
Provide guidance and influence in other areas of the Engineering (e.g. DevOps and Test Engineering)
Communicate the vision of our product to external entities
Participate in relevant Engineering and Technical Operations workgroups and on-call rotations to assure service availability
Foster, enable and promote innovation
Define team metrics and meet productivity goals of the organization

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and 1 year's experience in industrial engineering, supply chain, or related area OR 3 years' experience in industrial engineering, supply chain, or related area.
Master's degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years' experience in software engineering
