What you'll do...
Global Sourcing is a multi-billion-dollar business with locations spread across the globe. The team provides sourcing and execution transactional systems that support bidding, costing, purchase order management and supply chain execution for Walmart merchants across the US and international retail operations. Over the last 6 years, Global Sourcing has focused on delivering its value proposition to the merchants through sustained execution/trust, adding new services and improving cost-to-serve. As the Walmart Enterprise strategy and associated International portfolio evolves into a retail ecosystem, technology transformation is at the core of creating commercial grade sourcing services.
You'll sweep us off our feet if.
- You have overseen a large-scale modernization approach involving methodically carving out segments within the monolithic structure to update into a microservices architecture.
- You have improved the end-to-end sourcing and supply chain technology in a retail or ecommerce environment
- You have used data to drive better insights, decisions, and processes for a large retailer
- You have experience creating commercial grade software with a best in class, differentiated user experience
You'll make an impact by
- Building a custom-built solution with a microservices architecture ensuring Walmart is well positioned to service more markets, clients and categories with innovative, optimal, and cost-effective solutions.
- Delivering a transactable, virtual, and collaborative experience for our merchants, suppliers, and vendors.
- Reducing costs and fees, grow the import logistical network and proactively respond in a dynamic trade environment.
- Creating a strong engineering team that is well positioned for future technology and growth
What you'll do
- Delivers high quality products by developing and executing strategies for quality assurance, including mitigation plans to ensure quality; leveraging experience, insight, competitive analysis, and data to determine how to best exceed customer and member needs; sponsoring, developing, and influencing continuous improvement initiatives; eliminating non-value-added work; and measuring and monitoring milestones for quality.
- Ensures the successful execution of engineering projects by developing and implementing plans to ensure others have the information, training, resources, and implementation time to succeed; removing barriers to delivering customer/member value, service, and support; reviewing project progress against timelines; developing and upgrading work assignments and processes to accomplish goals across functions, organizations, and geographies; and building commitment and support for initiatives using logical, convincing justifications, including lessons learned.
- Drives continuous process improvement and innovation by identifying inefficiencies in current processes; improving agility of the team; and adopting industry trends for innovation.
- Delivers new products and manages one or more existing applications with minimum customer impact due to sales loss by ensuring that high quality standards are met throughout the delivery process; presenting and publishing analysis results; and developing plans and procedures to prevent future sales loss.
- Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement
opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning. - Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
What you'll bring
- 10 + years of experience in hands on engineering and strategy direction for large distributed retail systems
- Expert knowledge of .NET software framework, C# .NET Core, Angular with domain context driven databases in Azure SQL / Cosmos DB and PAAS database level replication.
- Experience with ThoughtSpot Search & AI driven, MS Azure Logic Apps, MS Azure API, Openshift Containers, Azure Event Grid
- Management of large, globally distributed teams of 75+ full time employees
- Experience in procurement and sourcing, merchant retailing experience, building of commercial grade software.
