What you'll do...
Traffic Foundation’s core-mission is the development of innovative software solutions with the goal of supporting Walmart’s cloud-platforms.
The Edge CDN team within Traffic Foundation provides and maintains solutions and guidance to the rest of the Walmart organization for publishing Walmart sites on the public internet. We are constantly researching and implementing new methods to improve the performance of Walmart sites. This includes advanced monitoring solutions at various points of the stack as well as the implementation of performance optimizations.
As part of your role in Edge CDN, you will be involved with the automation of hundreds of web properties. This includes using Terraform to configure and deploy infrastructure, CDN properties, and SSL certificates, as well as using configuration-management tools like Salt to automate and provision infrastructure. You will work on innovative Edge-Compute solutions using JavaScript and other languages, authoring tools to enable teams at Walmart to utilize these solutions for their various needs. You will work on large-scale installations of Clickhouse supporting our various data-warehousing solutions and monitoring dashboards.
What you’ll bring:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or Mathematics or 6+ years of applicable industry experience
Experience with distributed systems and one or more commercially available content delivery network platforms
Experience with monitoring solutions, e.g., Prometheus, Grafana and time-series databases
Experience working with network protocols, e.g., HTTP/TCP/UDP, request/response protocols, lifecycle and related troubleshooting tools and techniques
4+ years of experience in a language such as Go/Java/C++
Experience in using Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure as code
Strong background in process design for reliable systems; strong “big picture” awareness of systems
Ability to interact effectively with a variety of business and technical stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing technical documentation
You’ll sweep us off our feet if you bring…
Good generalist experience, with ability and willingness to read and write into all layers of a software stack
A knowledge of web performance (DOM,HAR files, waterfall diagrams)
Previous experience with config management frameworks such as salt stack
