(USA) Staff Software Engineer

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

As a staff Software Engineer, you’ll spend your days designing and architecting industry leading supply chain solutions, writing code with latest open source technologies, leading  team of 5-6 engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You’ll be working with teams consisting of other engineers who will look to you as a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert who provides guidance and the right tools to get the job done.

• Evaluate systems and open source for different system implementation and guiding the team on industry best practices.
• Architect large scale distributed systems for Walmart systems
• Assists in providing guidance to team of engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by proving pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline.
• Analyze business and software requirements to determine the feasibility of designs within time and cost constraints for Walmart Systems.
• Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause) engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues formulating an action plan performing actions as designated in the plan interpreting the results to determine further action performs root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues and completing online documentation.
• Architect, design, develop and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of the design.
• Build and Develop complex algorithms to fulfill customer item requirements by reducing shipping cost and ensuring fast delivery
• Provides support to the business by responding to user's questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility, implementation strategies) identifying short and long-term solutions facilitating resolutions and leading cross-functional partnership.
• Migrate existing Legacy System to high performance System on the cloud. Create new implementations and modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance. Develop and direct automated software system testing and validation procedures to validate the business flow end-to-end using various programming languages.
• Leads and participates in medium to large scale projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames) writing and developing code conducting unit testing communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders, collaborating with project team and cross functional teams troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs, interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan and providing update to the project team.
• Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices, supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
• Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders. Identifying business needs determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices monitoring progress and results recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.

• Extensive experience in Java/J2EE technologies, Hands-on experience with Spring Boot based microservice development, micro-service architecture experience. Experience with Reactive Programming is a plus.
• Experience in good app architecture using design patterns.
• Experience with different open source messaging technologies like KAFKA
• Ability to build products with focus on testability, someone who loves test coverage.
• A disciplined approach to development, code review, testing, documentation and code structure in a team environment.
• Experience with object-oriented and event driven systems for scalability
• Experience with Develop n-tier application using advanced implementations in RESTful services.

Skill Set Additions:

• Knowledge of technologies used in building scalable, distributed systems in virtualized cloud environments.
• Ability to design for fault tolerance and high availability.
• Solid DevOps skills in troubleshooting live applications, assessing performance bottlenecks of applications running on Linux
• Develop high performance and scalable solutions that extract, transform, and load big data
• Working with continuous development environments and decent knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
