Leads and directs in large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions. Directs root cause analysis of critical business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); directing actions as designated in the plan. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open-Door Policy.

It’s an exciting time to join our Walmart Technology journey. We are seeking for a Staff Software Engineer to build a brand-new app experience, using the best ideas around architecture and engineering best practices.

This is an opportunity for you to be part of a new team that is being stood up now, and you can be a founding member to set the strategy, culture, technology and working norms. It’s a unique chance to be an intrapreneur—building something new from the ground up at Fortune 1 company scale, while backed by the strength of Walmart and leveraging the assets of the world’s largest omnichannel retailer.

As part of this team, you will interact with a variety of teams including catalog, pricing, search, checkout, and various other internal teams.

You’ll sweep us off our feet if…

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 5-7 years or master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 3-5 years of experience building scalable ecommerce applications.
  • Experience building customizable, reusable, and dynamic frontend components using ReactJS, React Hooks, NextJS, JavaScript, ES6, Typescript, HTML and CSS.
  • Experience in automation testing using TestCafe and Jest.
  • Experience building a responsive, cross-browser compatible and high-performance web application.
  • Proven ability in implementing best/excellent practices and Design Patterns like promises, application flow control, event/error/AJAX handling, RxJS, observables, and Redux.
  • Experience with project build with CICD pipelines through Jenkins.
  • Experience NextJS, Nx, and Build tools is required for the job.
  • Prior experience with GraphQL is a huge plus.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Object-Oriented JavaScript, CSS and HTML5 is required.
  • Strong creative, collaboration, and communication skills.

You’ll make an impact by: 

  • Have experience with Docker, Kubernetes or Splunk.
  • Have experience in Fastify, Tachyons and Monorepos.
  • Have extensive knowledge of open-source libraries, design patterns and microservice architecture.
  • Self-starter, quick learner, keen observer, eye for detail and someone who relishes challenges.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Machine Learning.
