About Global Government Affairs: The Global Government Affairs team at Walmart, based in Bentonville, AR, Washington, and London, is concerned with strengthening Walmart’s license to operate. GGA is aligned with the business to create opportunities for growth: leading change and managing risk in the global policy arena; protecting and enhancing Walmart’s reputation.
Position Description: Walmart is seeking paid, virtual temporary associates (interns) to provide research, logistical, and strategic support to a small team which covers Canada, Latin America, UK, Africa, and Asia, as well as trade, human rights, and sustainable supply chains. We are seeking one spring-semester temporary associate (April to June - 8 weeks, 20 hours/week), one summer temporary associate (June to August - 10 weeks, 40 hours/week) and one fall-semester temporary associate (September to December - 12 weeks, 20 hours/week).
Duties may include:
- Drafting country-specific strategy documents
- Securing advocacy opportunities and logistics for major international fora
- Monitoring political risk and opportunities for Walmart to influence international and U.S. positioning on ongoing developments
- Submitting diverse written reporting to Walmart executives
- Contributing research and feedback on white papers and other research
- Carrying out stakeholder mappings in key issue areas
- Contributing to complex and time-sensitive deliverables and programs
Qualifications:
- BA in social science, international relations, or business; MA or MBA candidate preferred
- Relevant globally-oriented work experience in business or international relations for private sector, government, NGOs, trade associations, or similar
- Fluency in one or more relevant languages is desired
