Job Description

WD Global Operations is responsible for the timely deployment and ramp-up of cutting-edge Flash Memory technologies. Supply Chain Planning organization, a critical part of Global Operations, is responsible for ensuring availability of sufficient material supply and manufacturing capacity to help position the right inventory to best satisfy WD's Customer needs, Financial goals and commitments.

The Supply Chain organization is looking for a Manager, Industrial Engineering to lead a high-performing team of Operations Research and Industrial Engineers.

This is a high-visibility and cross-functional role with exposure to the inner workings of WD’s world-class supply chain. As part of leading this team, the candidate will have exposure to –

  • Flash Technology & Product Roadmap
  • Flash Business Forecast
  • Flash Financial & Operational metrics (Cost, Cycle-time and On-Time Delivery statistics)
  • Reports and Analyses from WD's Supply Chain Optimization engine
  • Reports from Enterprise Resource Planning systems

The ideal candidate demonstrates a deep passion for working with supply chain and inventory models. The ability to work with large datasets, understand and build inventory simulation and projection models are key attributes that would allow a candidate to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and grow the team with high-performing individuals
  • Review, validate and update inventory strategy based on changing business conditions
  • Review & report various operational metrics weekly
  • Drive corrective planning, procurement and inventory management actions to help meet customer needs and WD financial goals
  • Support monthly and quarterly review and communication of Operations and Financial metrics to Executive Leadership

Qualifications

Master's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Analytics, Business Administration or related field required

3+ years of experience and/or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Statistics or related field preferred

Compensation & Benefits Details

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado or remote jobs that can be performed in Colorado.  This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will also be eligible to participate in Western Digital's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan and to receive equity awards under our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs), pursuant to the terms of these programs.  RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
