    Position Summary

    The BD Specialist is an integral part of our centralized BD function. This function works across our practice groups, industry groups and client account teams to provide the very best support for the BD activities and initiatives these groups undertake to realize their commercial and marketing goals.

    This BD Specialist role is designed to support multiple groups across our Disputes and Competition practices. Supported by the BD Coordinators, the BD Specialist would take on stakeholder management of the senior BD team members, partners and other lawyers in the respective teams they have responsibility.

    This role is a key step in the career track of our business development team, prior to joining our embedded teams in a management position.

    Duties and Accountabilities 1

    Work closely with the senior business development teams in both the Disputes and Competition groups to help deliver their objectives as laid out in their business plan.

    • Assist in the production and maintenance of relevant credentials and related materials about the capabilities and experience across relevant practice groups, including lawyers' biographies, matter lists, brochures and capability statements in support of client targeting efforts.

    • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all pitches, proposal and business opportunities in the Firm's CRM system (InterAction), including pitch win/loss ratio and reasons for success/failure.

    • Maintain and promote the use of the Firm's matter experience database to maintain credentials and business development activities.

    • Assist with the collection of accolades and the building of a precedent library for use in proposals, awards and ranking submissions and other settings.

    • Help update and maintain the firm's internal web portal (Connect) and external practice and lawyer pages on the Firm's website and bio tool system.

    • In concert with senior marketing team members, lead the submissions process for legal directories (Chambers and Partners, Legal 500 and others), and award bodies . Including preparing lawyers for directory interviews, providing feedback and reporting on rankings and awards.

    • Work with the Firm's Creative Services and Marketing Technology teams to coordinate the production, distribution and evaluation of client alerts, newsletters and other White & Case publications, including creation, development maintenance of relevant mailing lists.

    • Support specific industry, priority area, regional or practice related business and client development initiatives.

    • Support client programs within the industry or practice as appropriate, including supporting relevant practice, industry and client team members, as well as partners and associates on key priority client targets.

    • Use of the Firm's systems (finance, marketing and other) to help support industry, practice and client development efforts.

    • Assisting on RFP responses.

    • Develop an in-depth understanding of the [insert] industry and each of its priority areas.

    • Undertake analysis and support industry and practice meetings and updates as appropriate.

    • Review and use financial reports to help support industry, practice and client development efforts.

    • Conduct client, market, sector and decision-maker research and analysis as required.

    • Assist in the organization of internal and external events, including building relationships with key external organizations.

    • Proactively work with the Firm's Communications Team to improve the profile and positioning of the group - both internally and externally.

    • Support on internal communication strategies and activities.

    • Help share information with and build relationships with colleagues across the Firm to ensure an integrated industry and practice offering.

    • Be an active contributor in the Firm's social media programs and activities.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate with relevant and in-depth business development experience in a professional services firm (at least three years).

    • Relevant marketing or a post-graduate qualification would be a distinct advantage.

    Essential Job Requirements

    • Experience working in a professional services environment.

    • Experience dealing with senior stakeholders and working autonomously.

    • Excellent communication skills - written and oral - and ability to work at all levels.

    • Able to project manage multiple initiatives concurrently.

    • Exposure to client relationship management would be advantageous.

    Location and Reporting

    This role is a hybrid in-office/remote role based in our New York or Washington DC office
