    • Name

      Katie Barish

    • Position

      Executive Business Consultant, Web Support

      Detroit, MI

When did you join Quicken Loans?
I joined QL in March of 2006 as a Mortgage Banker.

What do you do in your current role? What are some of your challenges/goals?
My official title is Executive Business Consultant.  I work directly with our Chief Revenue Officer to breakdown all of the changes, processes, or technology requests that may impact mortgage banking so that we both prioritize and execute on them.  I work closely with all of our different internal business partners (IT, Operations, etc) to put those pieces together.  The biggest challenges I face are prioritizing my time and focus.  There are so many requests coming in daily, that it’s critical to stay focused on the items that are going to have the biggest impact on the business.  However, that doesn’t mean that requests go unaddressed.  It simply means that I need to have strong relationships with my business partners so I can communicate clearly where priority  stands, why,  and identify the right person to help.
What is one of your most important professional achievements?
I built and lead training teams for 9 years at Quicken Loans, so training and development was definitely my comfort zone.  On July 1st 2016, I was promoted to Regional Vice President, and was the first female RVP at Quicken Loans.  Not only was it an honor to be able to demonstrate what was possible for women at Quicken Loans, but I was completely out of my comfort zone as I had never lead a sales team.  I learned a lot, and I grew more than I had in years.  I was incredibly uncomfortable in my skin for months…this was the first time in a long time where I wasn’t the go to expert.  This gave me the confidence to take on just about anything, including my current role.

One thing you are very passionate about?
I’m very passionate about making sure that the systems and processes we have inside of our business are exactly what our team members need to be successful, and make the most sense for our client and the client experience.  We have the best people in the industry, there is no reason for less than the best for our clients!

Would you recommend Quicken Loans to other females?
Absolutely!  I believe that anyone who is open to feedback and is willing to step out of their comfort zone can be successful at Quicken Loans.

What Women Should Know about Working At Quicken Loans Inc.
As a team member here, you’re empowered to discover and deliver solutions that make life radically simple. Whether you’re helping our clients navigate the complicated home buying process or developing the latest game-changing financial products, you join an organization that is changing the face of lending – just as we have for more than 30 years.

What started simply as a summer experiment for our founder and chairman Dan Gilbert has become America’s largest mortgage lender, with offices in Detroit, Cleveland, Phoenix, Charlotte and more. Today, more than 17,000 team members work for our suite of fintech services. Together with nearly 100 brands across a broad range of industries, from real estate to sports, we make up the Rock Family of Companies – all united by an obsession to find a better way for our clients, our team members and our communities.

We say that we’re obsessed, but it’s more than that – it’s our purpose and guiding light. Finding a better way is the only way. The results speak for themselves:

  • We were the first lender to bring the entire mortgage process online.
  • For 8 years in a row now, J.D. Power has ranked Quicken Loans highest in the nation in customer satisfaction for Primary Mortgage Origination. And for the fifth year in a row, they also ranked us highest for Mortgage Servicing.**
  • We build advanced technology that improves our clients’ lives, including voice assistant integrations that make it possible to pay your mortgage simply using your voice.

This success wouldn’t be possible without our team members. It’s because of their drive and determination that we’ve made the top-30 of FORTUNE magazine’s annual ranking of the 100 Best Companies to Work For list for 15 consecutive years. But awards can’t replace great ideas. That’s why we’re committed to an inclusive workplace, where every voice is heard and all our team members have access and opportunity to grow their skills and become the best versions of themselves.

That mission extends out beyond our walls and right into our communities, where we don’t just volunteer but also invest our unique efforts in ways that impact the world around us.

We’ve revolutionized the mortgage industry, but this is about more than mortgages. This is about changing people’s lives. Join our team and change your own life today.
