The role requires the ability to manage video production logistics from start to finish, often managing numerous productions of varying degrees of complexity at any one time. A very high level of experience with live event production, high production value multi-camera shoots, field production, studio production, live streaming, lighting and camera setup is required. Coordination of event coverage (conferences & news) with live audiences is entailed.
The Deputy Production Manager/Video Journalist will work closely with senior management and senior level producers in coordinating production logistics and also contribute creative ideas and direction for all upcoming shoots. He/She will also be responsible for assisting the Operations Manager in cross-over production tasks, budgeting, studio shoots and video newsroom operations.
The role involves vetting, hiring and managing freelancers for field shoots and edits and assigning long and short form video projects. Field management experience, both domestic and international is highly preferred. Background in working with talent and managing A-list celebrities (from Wall Street, Washington to Hollywood) is preferred. Candidates must maintain significant freelance production contacts.
The Deputy Production Manager/Video Journalist will also produce and edit high-quality, journalistically strong and visually engaging video packages.
Background in journalism and the ability to write and script.
At least 5-6 years in field production management.
3-4 years of video editing in either Premiere Pro or Final Cut.
3-4 years of experience with Canon C100, C300, Sony Fs7 and ENG style cameras.
Film school and digital photography background and experience with digital interactive platforms is a plus.
Consistent drive to keep current with evolving video technology and trends is required.
Proven ability to work and solve problems under deadline pressure is a must.
