Since writing my initial review, I had the misfortune of going on maternity leave. My leave was severely mismanaged and I was forced to advocate relentlessly for myself both for the disability pay that I was entitled to when I was on leave, and my regular pay once I returned. I also did not realize how inadequate UA is compared to its competitors when it comes to maternity leave benefits. I was given 6 weeks pay, a total of 12 weeks leave, and was questioned about using more than 2 weeks of my accrued vacation to cover a full three months. HR is not sympathetic to the perspective of mothers. They are inflexible and view any request for accommodation as an excuse not to return to work or as substitute childcare on company time. Returning to work was stressful and an unpleasant experience.
