Academia is rife with sexism in older, male tenured PIs, be careful.
The department definitely needs more women professors, but in my time here I didn't ever feel like I was discriminated against. The University as a whole is pretty good about promoting women-centered events and seminars as well through the Women's Center.
I worked there for a year and 6 months in I could find no career path internally. It had nothing to do with being female, there just wasn't a lot of career growth options.
