There is nothing more inspiring than being at a company where the most senior leaders are women, and there are lots of wonderful programs underway to support women at IBM.

It is so inspiring to see women in the most senior leadership roles! Would like to see additional women in middle management. Wonderful to see initiatives by Kelly Chambliss, GBS North America Managing Partner, to increase gender diversity in North America Consulting leadership.

There is a lot of room for growth at IBM but your career is what you make of it. You can be very successful if you seek out sponsors and mentors and find your niche within the larger organization.

IBM is a very large company and the amount of flexibility afforded depends a lot on your team and role. In consulting, it is very difficult to have a flexible schedule given the amount of travel required.
  • One Thing Employer Could Improve

Improve work-life balance and policies (e.g. flex-time, limit face time)

Mastercard Incorporated

Managing Consultant, Advisors

MasterCard has been included in Ethisphere's Most Ethical Companies list several years in a row. They actively recognize holidays like International Women's Day and have events throughout the year via the Women's Leadership Network. They offer both paid maternity and paternity leave, as well as additional parental sick days to stay home with a sick child. Work-life balance is fairly good, but could be better if there was more flexibility to work from home on a regular basis (not just as an exception). Note that I do not yet have children, but we are planning to grow our family in the near future.
