In every organization, productivity is an important indicator of success. When employees perform better, the entire company is likely to be more productive. Yet it’s not just up to employees to perform their best—they need managers who can guide and help them. Here’s how successful managers help employees perform better every day.

1. They communicate goals and instructions clearly.

Employees perform better when they are well-directed and adequately instructed. When managers give clear explanations of their employee's job descriptions, employees will have the confidence to work correctly. If they understand what they are going to do, there is less of a chance for errors and delays in operation. A successful manager always ensures communicates plans, goals, and instructions for a particular task clearly. As a leader, you have to understand that you are responsible for relaying the correct information and ensuring that your employees have understood every detail of the job. As a manager, you should be reachable and available. You should be ready and equipped to answer any clarifications and inquiries.

2. They delegate tasks properly.

As a manager, you have to be knowledgeable about who your team members are and their capabilities. First, you have to be well-versed in their skills, specializations, strengths, and weaknesses. By doing this, you can adequately delegate a particular task to someone who has the expertise and thorough knowledge about the assignment. Employees are highly motivated when they like the job assigned to them. If you give responsibilities out of alignment, it might result in mediocre output and, in the worse cases, poor deliverables. A successful manager knows how to delegate the right tasks to the right people.

3. They include employees in the decision-making process.

It is not true that most employees are only motivated by monetary gains. Many employees also value and appreciate being a part of the decision-making process. Participative management is one of the most effective ways to engage employees and encourage high performance. When you involve middle managers and other subordinates in planning, implementing, and deciding, you can learn from their unique perspectives. Sometimes, there are some problems that subordinates understand more than upper management.

4. They foster a good working environment.

One of the latest trends in improving work environments is the use of coworking spaces. Coworking spaces are shared areas offered with various amenities such as private meeting rooms, hot desks, and large tables where you can freely converse with others. Workers can assemble here in a neutral workspace. This casual environment helps employees work conveniently independently or with others. A successful manager considers utilizing coworking spaces that are healthy and safe workplaces for the employees. If you are working remotely, successful managers offer time and virtual space for collaboration and coworking. Coworking spaces can help employees become more productive and give them the opportunity to interact with other employees.

5. They offer training, incentives, and recognition.

Managers should provide training and grant incentives and recognize employee achievements. By giving training, employees will know the latest developments in their work and profession. It also motivates them to go out of their comfort zone and pushes them to improve. Giving incentives such as salary increases, new allowances and additional non-monetary benefits helps employees be confident and satisfied that they are economically secured. If their personal needs are sufficient, it is more likely that they will perform well. Recognition boosts employee motivation because it values and recognizes their excellence. Successful managers always keep their employees equipped, satisfied and inspired.
