The veterinary profession is one of the only STEM-related industries with a majority female workforce. As we noted when celebrating Women’s History Month in March, the veterinary industry must come together to recognize the progress we’ve made and the incredible opportunities we have to further empower women and close the gender gap in leadership and other structures.

Recently named a Best Company for Women in 2021, Banfield Pet Hospital is committed to investing in and empowering our workforce — 86% of which are women — year-round. Here are a few examples of what this means for our people:

  • With half of Banfield’s leadership team and most of our pipeline of leadership talent consisting of women, we continue to make significant investments to ensure equal development opportunities at every level of the organization. Hear from our chief medical officer Dr. Molly McAllister on what women can do to boost their careers.

  • Women of Banfield, our incredibly powerful diversity resource group, continues to strengthen and amplify our impact by connecting with each other, our clients, our allies, and our community. Follow along at #WomenofBAnfield.

  • We’ve expanded childcare benefit offerings to enable more options and financial support for working parents to get the help they need to balance work and family.

  • We're thrilled to be partnering with The Mom Project to build a better workforce for women. Learn more here.

  • We continue to expand mental health benefits for our Associates, through free assessment tools, access to Headspace, and continuing to offer our “ASK – Assess, Support, Know” suicide prevention training, available to the entire veterinary profession as a free resource.

We consider every one of our women Associates a leader. Through their actions big and small, they make a positive impact on pets, people, and our communities.

Banfield, the largest veterinary practice in the world, is a community of people characterized by diversity of thought, background, preferences and approach, and bonded together by our commitment to our purpose: a better world for pets. Our pledge, achieved through the health and well-being of our associates, is to create an inclusive environment where all associates can be themselves, so that we can find value in our differences.

Want to join this passionate community of over 16,000 associates and 1,000 hospitals? Banfield is hiring all over the U.S. for a variety of roles.
