The emergence of COVID has tested the metal of many of us, and the storm isn’t over yet. But where there’s been loss and difficult lessons, so, too, have there been opportunities to reflect and reset. The pandemic has made it impossible to ignore many of the systemic inequities that afford certain people protection right now and leave others vulnerable and exposed.

Resilience shouldn’t only be a marker of individual strength and ability. By working on fostering our sense of resilience, through psychologist-approved habits, we’ll be better able to weather storms personally and as communities, too. We have to do better as a society to take care of one another, and there are a lot of reasons to remain hopeful that, on the other side of this, a juster version of society can be built. Strength is something that can and should be shared.

In the meantime, here are 17 quotes about resilience that will help remind you that you — and us, and all of us — will get through this.
