As someone who hasn’t personally used a menstrual cup and yet is fascinated by them — I mean, really, how do they stay UP there for hours?! — I’m ready and willing for someone to properly explain their mechanics to me. And according to Viral News, one little boy did just that recently by bringing his mom’s menstrual cup into his classroom’s show and tell session. The best part? His dad unwittingly helped make it happen.

Reddit user sothishappened2 posted in delightful play-by-play his tale of discovering he’d been letting his son play with his wife’s menstrual cup for days as a toy. And we, as well as the internet at large, can’t stop cackling.

Things started off innocently enough.

"My wife is working out of town for a couple weeks," the dad wrote. "Sometime over the weekend I noticed my son playing with this little silicone cup that kinda looked like a tulip. I asked him what it went to and what it did and he proceeded to show me it’s versatility — over the next few days it helped the Paw Patrol save the town, it was a treasure chest holding tiny pebbles guarded by pirates, a force field protecting a space ship. It came with us to the park, grocery shopping, and even out to dinner one night. I loved that it had its own little satchel and assumed it just went to a play set."
Versatile is right! From being a receptacle capable of holding 65% of the average person's period blood at once to park pal to dinner table companion, this cup was clearly seeing a lot of action.
Then, things really got interesting.

"Fast forward to this morning," the dad writes, "and as we’re getting ready for school Alexa reminds us that it’s show and tell today at school."

So, what does his son grab, of course, but his new special new silicone friend.
"I pick him up after school and his teacher asks to speak with me," he continues. "My son looks happy so I figure he’s not in trouble, or if he is in trouble he did something cheeky that he’s proud of."
The teacher went on to inform sothishappened2 that his son had brought in an "interesting" item in for show and tell, at which point the dad agrees — it is an interesting toy, right? "We've been playing with that thing for days," he added.
The full convo on Reddit is worth a read but, unsurprisingly, it culminates in the dad understanding just how special his son's new toy is. His wife "laughed hysterically" upon hearing the news, but the discovery seems to have changed relatively little for his son.

"My son is non the wiser and is having a tea party with the cup right now," he added.

Here's hoping the mom got a new cup out of this blunder, at least!
