To kick off a recent concert she was putting on in Liverpool, singer and aerial-performing queen Pink flew high above the crowds to the tune of her early 'aughts hit, "Let's Get This Party Started." Meanwhile, down below, a U.K. woman was doing just that — by going into labor.
During the singer's first act, medics had to push their way through a crowd of thousands to reach 32-year-old Denise Jones, who had just gone into early labor.
“When we reached her, it was quite clear the patient was heavily pregnant and showing signs of being in labor,” one of the medics told The Liverpool Echo. “We continued to assess her and established she was going to have to deliver the baby in the stadium as there was not enough time to get her to hospital."
After being taken to a first aid room, Jones gave birth (without the assistance of "pain relief," according to the medic) to a healthy baby girl.
“It took less than five minutes,” he added. “We didn’t have time to get concerned or worried, we just had to crack on and get on with it.”
Speaking to HuffPost afterward, Jones said that the mid-show delivery, which caught her totally by surprise, led her to pay tribute to the singer in a pretty significant way.
“I’m still massively in shock, just a bit gutted I missed the concert,” she joked. “But I couldn’t be any happier right now! The plan was to call her Dolly Louise but since she was born in the concert we’ve changed it to Dolly Pink.”
For her part, Pink posted a sweet shout out to the new mom and Dolly Pink on Instagram, writing that it was clear the baby "wanted to get the party started."
