Fairygodboss of the Week: Kriti Srivastava
Lead Analyst, GAMMA (Data Science) at Boston Consulting Group
London, United Kingdom
Tell us a little about your career. How did you get to where you are now?
I started out as a biotechnology engineer working in a laboratory on disease research. Soon I realized that my interest was in the analysis and not the experiment itself. That's when I shifted gears and started working in analytics. When BCG started their analytics team in India, I saw it as a great learning opportunity and got on-board. Years have passed, and now I am a Lead Analyst in the London office!
What is an accomplishment that you are proud of?
A very interesting case that I did for a client in South East Asia was presented to the Executive committee at BCG. We won many awards, and it was also highly appreciated by our CEO.
What is a challenge that you've faced and overcome?
Moving to a new country! When my husband and I moved from New Delhi to London, we had to unlearn and relearn so many things. The way people communicate is different. The culture is different. But once you overcome the initial hurdles, London is a great city!
Who is YOUR Fairygodboss? and Why?
I have been blessed with a lot of Fairygodbosses over the years. At BCG, my best memories have been working with the most amazing women. They have taught me a lot. As cliche as it sounds, I think my Fairygodboss is also my mother. I don't think I would be able to achieve much without her constant advice.
Lightning Round: What is your favorite movie?
Oh, so many! I like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." I am also a huge Marvel fan!
Lightning Round: What book would you bring with you on a desert island?
So many, although the kid in me wants to say Harry Potter.
Lightning Round: What is your shopping vice? What would you buy if you won the lottery?
I have been accused of having too many earrings! Depending on how big the lottery is, I would buy an airline or airline tickets. Then, I would be able to go home as often as I want and travel anywhere in the world.
What is the #1 career tip you'd like to share with other women who want to have successful careers like you?
Don't sell yourself short. Never underestimate the value you bring to the table.
