Francesca M. is a UK Investment Counselor based in the US. She takes pride in adding value to her clients’ daily lives. Her typical day consists of speaking to clients about stock market movement and conducting annual reviews to help them look at their long-term financial plans holistically. She finds her role personally rewarding and fulfilling, and her dedication to taking care of her clients has also earned her professional recognition. 

“Winning the silver award in Fisher’s League of Champions has been a very meaningful experience for me because it not only recognizes my hard work and dedication to this role, but it also validates my daily efforts,” she says. “It has also fueled the enthusiasm and commitment I have to helping my clients going forward.” 

What do you find personally rewarding about working with your clients?

What I enjoy most about being in a service role are the connections you build with people. Investment Counselors need excellent communication skills, asking questions to understand the unique situations of each client. Skilled Investment Counselors go the extra mile by building client relationships that break through the surface level and get to the root of what they truly want. 

A large part of my job is helping clients outline their long-term goals and building a plan that gets them there. It is all very rewarding—watching these plans translate to a wedding, a retirement, or a legacy for our clients to leave for their children. At the end of the day, it’s personal and meaningful. How many jobs are you able to truly say that about?

How does it feel to be recognized for your hard work, and can you share some personal achievements that led to it?

Getting recognized for my hard work feels incredibly rewarding and affirming. The recognition is a powerful validation of the effort, dedication, and countless hours we put into our roles.

Several personal achievements played a significant role in helping me win this award. To better serve my clients, I dedicated myself to honing my skills, such as developing my knowledge of capital markets and financial planning. I set clear goals that I incorporated into my daily tasks to help me stay consistent. I also aim to consistently reach out to my clients to ensure they are well taken care of. Reminding myself of the value we add to our clients’ lives gives me purpose and energizes me to remain diligent in meeting my goals.

What’s next for your career, and how is Fisher supporting you?

I became an Investment Counselor Mentor this year, and I am excited to help and watch my mentee grow. It’s also a great opportunity for me to grow and take an active part of the supportive environment at Fisher. 

With my love for learning and financial planning, perhaps a research or client development position would be suitable for me as the next step in my career. The great news is that Fisher has several internal resources, such as a Career Center, which provides employees with assistance in navigating new career paths.

Whatever path I choose with the firm, I know I will be supported, from my manager and fellow teammates to a colleague a few pods down from me. The culture at Fisher fosters this collaborative environment where everyone can thrive.
